1/ If accurate, this is almost certainly a conflict with the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits the use of the military for domestic law enforcement, including the National Guard if they are federalized.

Will defer to lawyers, but deploying active duty Marines to suppress domestic dissent is almost certainly a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act and illegal. It's very possible this would represent an unlawful order that military leaders would not be bound to follow.

If Trump/Homans/Miller federalize 2,000 National Guard troops over the objections of California's governor, it probably won't be a meaningful amount in LA, city of 8 million over like 100 miles. But it hasn't happened since 1965 and will be a serious escalation/risk of death.

Friday night, 11 pm, in DTLA Chinatown: citizens on the sidewalk, aggressive Gestapo agents with military attire, weapons, and assisted by bearcats are pushing the citizens off the sidewalk. These agents do not want to be photographed or videotaped? LAPD refuse to clear the sidewalk.
