I listened to this podcast, in bed, at 6am this morning with my cuppa tea. What a delight. I’d read all about Anne’s climbing prowess in her journals long before, but yours and Gill’s enthusiastic retelling brought it all alive for me once more. ⛰️ Thank you.

At 6am this morning I made myself a cuppa and settled myself back in bed to listen to the Anne Lister In The Pyrenees podcast on History Out Loud. I’d read about Anne’s adventures from her journals but yours and Gill’s enthusiasm brought it all alive again for me, so thank you. What a woman AL was.

Yes, and they each had 2 types of trumpet, so 10 difficult parts to learn. And they all looked so good playing it. Hats off!

We did the lovely walk from Helmsley to Rievaulx and that view of the ruins was stunning as we turned the corner, near the bridge, and walked towards it in the sunshine. Easy to imagine what a weary traveller must have felt, in bygone days, first seeing it in all its original magnificence.

Yes, the Marina is crammed with boats at the moment, safe haven for the winter. I just liked the reflection of the masts.
