The vast contrast in emotions between the classic monsters and the woman in blue is intriguing. Why are they so miserable to be there and why is she so stoked?

Objectively awesome idea. First ten hours could be workplace sim, actively ignoring zombie outbreak. Maybe also the rest of the game, for realism

Over a decade of experience can testify to the overwhelming importance of the headline for an article to get read (above visuals, sometimes subject, especially excerpt) and the existential horror of what seems to work best

I need to catch up, wow… don’t know the context or what’s realistic to hope for, but I would love to see her get a full run (3ish seasons). I wanted that with Gatwa also though, so - some emotions!

Holy heck, it’s one thing to just be philosophically okay with all data being open for anything no matter what, but can we at least be honest about what is happening

Taking in equal parts of Diet Pepsi and acne medication as a teen and not understanding why everything keeps getting worse (specifically, generally, etc.)

Absolute Batman 8: Marcos Martín gives the action such fun action-horror dynamics, Muntsa Vicente’s colors are striking, Clayton Cowles’s lettering builds on all this and elevates it and somehow after writing so much damn Batman, Scott Snyder is delivering his most innovative and stunning takes

The Ultimates 12: Big Nextwave vibes from H.A.N.D. No complaints. Doop! Tony Stark pulls a Clara Oswald. Eager to see how Ultimates 3.0 plays out. Having the status quo of this world be deeply corrupt and corrupted sure makes the Ultimate universe more relatable than Marvel proper

You’ll Do Bad Things 2: really digging the art style and color pallet choices, stuff I want to try out. More hooked now on the plot after this issue, a lot of fascinating threads

The Slasher’s Apprentice 1 - Cosmic Monkey had a signed copy out at the counter, figured I should check it out since I’ve been making my own slasher comic. Good premise, really liking the execution (hah) so far. Rebecca Nalty’s colors are great here, I’m taking notes

Absolute Superman 7 - Body Horror Brainiac shovels. He shovels well. Maybe one of the darker Superman books where he’s still heroic.

Absolute Green Lantern 2 - out of all the absolute books, I’m least sure about where we’re going with this one. I’m a big fan of Al Ewing so I’m sticking with it - so far feels like all the mainline GL alter egos stuck in a Stephen King novel. I’m intrigued.

Ultimate Spider-man 16 - as ultimate as ever. The ultimate Mysterious design and concept are fantastic. Very pleased by the twist at the end, can’t wait to see how this pans out.

Batman: The Long Halloween: The Last Halloween number 7 was a good entry. I wasn’t thrilled about the rotating artist concept for this series but it’s been going well. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this scene happen in a Batman comic before - very nice for the Mother’s Day issue

I was ready to have my feelings hurt until I realized that I’m actually unclear on that these days. Probably bad enough that I *thought* I knew

I feel like the power of one spider would be sneakier than that of a whole ass thousand, but maybe that exchange rate explains it

This is such a helpful framing - it’s less about moving goalposts for masculinity and more about masculinity already meaning nothing other than opposition to another concept that IS progressing and growing

Along those lines, nobody can ever convince me that the first draft of The Last Jedi didn’t involve that very thing being the crux of the casino planet storyline. Finn and Poe go to Space Vegas is the sequel we needed but didn’t deserve

Absolute Flash made me realize why I like this line so much - it feels like Vertigo takes on the characters. The Flash costume teased here especially gives those vibes.

At the site of a box being opened, when one person has been taken, what if an excessive amount of blood is spilled? Far more than required, too much… (Natural disaster, war, mass killing… some terrible event that just happens to take place where an earlier, stranger horror occurred)

What if there are more people present when somebody opens the box? Unknowing, unwilling? What if there are A LOT of people present?

I love that movie so much. Learning that Robert McKee is, in fact, a real person, and then reading his books in Brian Cox’s voice has been a joy.
