That’s a completely understandable position based on the current state of things. I’m a Christian but I 100% agree we have to speak up and condemn this

So in the absence of this particular incentive to go into public service, what would fill that vacuum?

It’s def a bad idea if it’s going to be implemented in the way it has been. I can tell you it was integral to my decision to take the path I did. It was promised when I signed my loan and the IBR is law. I’m about 2 years short of paying off and have been held hostage in limbo for a year now.

They need major change. I think the only upside here is these numbers are coming in early enough that change can happen before the midterms.

Sure I def don’t think we can take it for granted. But my guess is that he will overestimate what he can get away with and show himself for a fraud btw now and midterms. The question of how much damage will be done in the process is very fair though…

In the South it’s empty Country Crock containers because you can’t be leaving Mema’s without some leftovers!

It’s his hubris that’s going to save the rest of us. The hardliners are going to hardline, but folks who genuinely, though certainly misguided, thought he would fix the economy will peel away here pretty soon. This also shows that he views his supporters as dupes to be hoodwinked, not constituents.

That seems harsh since they already eat oatmeal instead of grits

There are some really interesting connections with faith and politics here as well. Reagan had to denigrate the (objectively) moral policies of Carter by painting social programs that help the poor and marginalized as wasteful. It was effective white Evangelicals cared more about money than morality

You could add a sample assignment component that used the online Franklin papers to do primary research. I’d actually be down to help on this if you’d like…

The conservative climate “solution” is to kill the rest of us by disease and starvation and trust that their riches will protect them. I don’t think liberals are fighting that vigorously enough, but the evidence is all over the internet it certainly has not been deleted.

Woody Guthrie once said “When the say ‘America First’ they mean ‘America Next’”. He also lived for a time in the slum owned by trump’s father and wrote a song called “Trump Made a Tramp out of Me”…
