It was an interesting set of circumstances, and “they” did it for a few weeks (though, which specific seals were there did change from one day to the next). It is the only time I have ever seen that happen on Oahu.

I don’t personally… I haven’t seen him since that day, though I get over to Kauai pretty regularly.
Hawaiian monk seals, despite being endangered, are pretty tough survivors. Quite a few of them have cookie cutter shark scars.

Interesting… I was guessing red-tailed hawk based on other birders around Central Park, but I never got a good look at its tail.
