I’m a baby boomer and a retiree. I am a Catholic, but I am a Democrat. I fear for our country as a felon, rapist and liar currently occupies the most powerful office in the world. Also, Elon Musk is destroying our democracy.

The events in Minnesota are horrific! How could this happen?! My heart breaks for the families. My only response rn is to say the Rosary.

I don’t think that people have any more or less integrity. I think that these times we live in are chaotic and scary and people react accordingly. My 2 cents

Yes indeed, I totally agree. I have never used the term ‘ugly’ to describe physical aspects of anything. Ever hear someone say, ‘…this is getting ugly…’

So glad for you and your cat. I’ve had cats and since I live in an urban area, they were always kept inside.

It shows how depraved the Trump Administration is with respect to the law.

I was a reading teacher for years. A lot depends on the parents and the commitment the school system has to improving students’ reading skills

Ewww! That’s just creepy. But it doesn’t scare me. I fear God, that’s who, not some chainsaw wielding maniac, or an insurrectionist.

Roger Stone said all that, did he? Roger Stone is not the attorney general of the USA. I hate to be a liberal conspiracy theorist, but I see a nefarious motive behind his statement

Yeah, it’s easy to do. I get the sense that Hilary is someone who won’t be bullied by anyone; she endured a grueling 11 Congressional Hearing over Ben Gazi. We probably wouldn’t have a Putin problem if she won in 2016.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda; water over the damn, but we can stay engaged politically. My world view is Roman Catholic. I try to acknowledge the dignity of the human person. I also don’t like women with at risk pregnancies denied necessary care should something go wrong with the pregnancy.

Trump offered up a scapegoat, immigrants; yes, they became a handy group to demonize. My husband is a naturalized citizen. We have custody of my grandson. His school sent out an email regarding our rights to due process if ICE comes around. Wow!
Who knew?!

Also, the Wall Street Journal employs very sharp journalists. I used to subscribe to the WSJ while I was getting my masters in management, no not an MBA, a masters in business. Watch Washington Week on PBS on Friday night at DST 8:00 PM. Really digs into Washington politics; there’s always a …

Yes, but Rupert’s holdings are extensive, so, changes in his portfolio can launch a minor earthquake in the financial markets, so it is worth it to the Wall Street Journal to keep an eye on him.

Let’s not forget how Elon Musk helped elect Trump by donating $270 million to his campaign. As a Catholic, I find notions antithetical to Catholic teaching about family values. Why not donate to St. Jude’s childhood cancer research hospital? ❤️

This is not the first time that our country devolved into intolerance racism. We had a civil war here between the slave holding South and the non-slave North. Let’s be vigilant and kind. 🙏

Fabulous way to see the impact of cuts to Federal funding. This makes me wonder about why Musk and tRump continue this disastrous policy of destroying programs that do so much good.

You’re right about that. I feel a fearful darkness around me. I have been attending Mass and receiving the Eucharist daily, partly for Lent and partly for our nation.
