That’s the sick part. When the economy tanks, the non-rich will have to sell their house, liquidate retirement plans, etc. The rich who helped bring about this nightmare will buy property cheap and come out richer overall afterwards, while a greater share of the population will own nothing.

It’s all a lead up to declaring martial law

You’re right. At best, I view such statements as aspirational. In rehab programs, “fake it til you make it” helps people start to see themselves differently, on the road to behaving differently.
If “not who we are” drives complacency, it’s bad. If it raises people’s standards, it could be good.

They’ll keep trying it in multiple cities, hoping for resistance. Trump will activate the national guard for them at first, but then he’ll use the general unrest (that he created) to justify declaring martial law.

I agree, though even an algorithm that looks solely at wealth, income, etc will still favor those who have been historically privileged (more likely to inherit wealth, have education paid for, etc).
A truly just AI will need to take privilege/oppression into account and try to balance the scales.

I can’t tell how much of that is bots/ops trying to sow division, or just people being their shitty selves on the internet.

When they’re telegraphing their desire to justify having sent him to El Salvador in the first place, don’t expect a fair trial or non-coerced witnesses

You mean the wife of the guy who runs fake wrestling isn’t our best choice to lead the nation’s education efforts?

Seriously curious…how much of this is borne out of oppression and the need for an alternate language, the way Cockney English developed? Or does it seem like most of it would have developed anyway?

That reminds me, I finally watched Secret Smile. Solid thriller story, and David Tennant played the psycho quite convincingly.

Tangent> A couple of years ago, I repeated a joke by Mark Normand to a friend who’s Black: “Racism is like Nickelback. It’s fun to joke about, but you never want to see it live.”
He laugh but immediately asked, “What did Nickelback ever do to deserve a comparison to racism?”

If they got their way and eliminated (or subjugated) all others, they’d start infighting amongst different factions. Akin to most religious fundamentalist groups, white supremacy is a death cult.

I worked security at two different strip clubs, and I’d see broke, sad-sacks bring gifts (jewelry, flowers, etc) to give to their favorite girl as she left the stage. It was one among a long list of depressing sights.
Side note, the second club was my first major website client when learning CS.
