Some notable names in the latest batch of donations to Fix the City, the pro-Cuomo super PAC: -$250,000 from Mark Gorton, the LimeWire founder who has dabbled in conspiracy theories about vaccines. -$100,000 from Kathryn Murdoch, wife of Rupert Murdoch's younger son, James.

Not In My Borough? Brad Hoylman-Sigal, who is running for *Manhattan* borough president, also featured a photo of 7th Ave in Park Slope, Brooklyn, on his latest mailer. “When we say more affordable housing for all New Yorkers, we mean all!” his campaign responds. www.nydailynews.com/2025/06/01/s...

new, long-awaited data on NYC's 485x housing tax break validates some early fears: zero projects proposed with 100+ units and only 2 in Lower Manhattan, where wage rules are higher. Developers have signaled interest in 118 total projects worth 2,600 units: www.crainsnewyork.com/politics-pol...

I knew this story about the white South African refugees reminded me of something. In 1989 Rep. Major Owens (D-NY) introduced a bill that would have allowed conscripted white South Africans who refused military service on behalf of Apartheid to seek asylum in the US. It didn't pass, though.

Andrew Cuomo said Christopher Columbus statues were targeted because he’s Italian — and said that NYC will celebrate Columbus Day on his watch, and find *another* day for Indigenous Peoples’ Day. From Playbook PM: www.politico.com/newsletters/...

Comptroller candidate Mark Levine says he expects to hit the $5.2 million-ish spending cap after matching funds are paid out next week, after raising $236k in the last two months. The Manhattan BP has been raising since ‘22, and had a big jump on primary opponent Justin Brannan.

Sam Sutton (D) ran away with the special election for state Senate in southern Brooklyn. The district voted BIG for Trump, but the largely Orthodox Jewish population in the district have consistently backed Democrats in local races.

New NYC mayoral online poll from SurveyUSA conducted May 14-17: www.surveyusa.com/client/PollR... Andrew Cuomo - 43% Zohran Mamdani - 11% Scott Stringer - 9% Brad Lander - 8% Adrienne Adams - 6%

The mayor discusses his legacy - in a speech readymade for any filmmakers working on an Eric Adams documentary. “I can’t complain. I get up every day, sit on the back porch of Gracie Mansion, drink my smoothie, and say ‘damn, life is good.’”

Mayor Adams and QBP Richards unveil the design for the memorial for fallen post-9/11 service members. It’ll be in Whitestone, Queens.

Jane Fonda is apparently a Zohran Mamdani fan - she gave $1,000 to a super PAC backing his mayoral run.

"We each individually believe we will be the best mayor of the city," Zohran Mamdani says on the WFP tele town hall, about Lander, Adams and Myrie - "and we also understand that what unites us is a common desire to defeat Andrew Cuomo in the pursuit of that."

Andrew Cuomo out with his first digital ad, leading with his Covid response (and televised Covid briefings). Also features a pic of CM Selvena Brooks-Powers - whose endorsement was a slap in the face of Adrienne Adams. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwRv...

Haven’t seen this reported yet: in a speech to supporters posted to TikTok last week, NYC mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo said he believes that Democrats lost in 2024 because “we’re talking about bathrooms and who’s gonna play in what [sports] team”

Candidates get to ask each other questions tonight. But… they’re cheating a bit. • Mamdani asks Lander what’s the worst thing that Cuomo did? • Lander asks Stringer why’s he think Cuomo is going soft on Trump? • Stringer asks Mamdani how Adams & Cuomo messed up Albany-NYC relations.
