This is called the Dis-honor system.

I wish this was more part of the narrative. Thanks for the article! In any case, no pardon is as unpardonable as the one given to Trump by the people who voted him back into office.

Not to mention that voting Trump back into office is the most egregious pardon, done by the people who are the most vocal about the Hunter Biden one.

I think the main thing to realize, is that he owned up to this AFTER Trump got reelected, and the Big Lie was no longer needed because its main proponent had gained the white house already. Now Dinesh can move on to a more timely lie, justifying Trump actions now. Or later when he's in office.

He had this epiphany...right after Trump won the election and the Big Lie was no longer needed. Great job, Dinesh, you sociopath.

Absolutely spot on. I hear this attitude from "moderates" I talk to w/r/t Trump winning. "The Dems talked down to half the country." Okay, Trump didn't talk down to non-Trump voters? "Well, yeah, but we expect that. It's Trump after all."

That's the world they live in. They expected you not to be thoughtful, but to reflexively back "your" guy. That their day-to-day existence. They can't really fathom acting differently.

if you live around conservatives, a common bumper sticker reads “liberalism is a mental disorder.” you’ll see effigies of dem politicians, unhinged screeds about satan-worshipping dems written on lawn signs. this stuff gets ignored while any hint of condescension from liberals is treated as endemic

I mean, is Elon's idea to alienate non-MAGA people into leaving X, so he can have MAGA talking heads that remain not be able to make money off their work? Doesn't seem like a practical business model.

Alright, look, I know you're a professor of history at Princeton. But why aren't you listening more to my takes. For fuck sake, I've read a couple history books, too. I'm joking, of course. Kudos to you, and glad you're on Bluesky.

I don't know how I was excluded from that list.

And now they will argue that they have a mandate for it that they earned....by lying to all the voters and saying they wouldn't implement it.

Reminds me of Joe Rogan during the pandemic, and the anti-vaxxers on his show demanding that they be debated by actual doctors and epidemiologists. These people read one book and their head exploded and now they think they are public intellectuals who should be debating the top people in the world.

Do I seriously have to be the one to add David Frum to this list?

Maybe he'll get MTG to head Space Force and she can finally get to the bottom of the Jewish space lasers issue.
