That’s not really the story, NYT. The story is a fascist move on institutions to force them into lockstep with the regime‘s ideals. But the American media is broken, so not really surprising to see this kind of headline.

Yours is certainly more precise!

A masterwork. Only a genius capable of bankrupting casinos would be able to do something like it.

And racism.

A considerable chunk of Trump voters from this last election (and I don’t necessarily mean hardcore MAGAs) didn’t understand any of these words (oligarchy, authoritarianism and kleptocracy). One thing Trump does well is talk in a way every moron understands. Maybe Democrats should too.

Or maybe: Technology and science took huge leaps forward during the Nazi regime. So the coming years look promising for the American economy. By Bret Stephens

That’s really good and to the point. The guy who wrote about the „sin of empathy“ is a perfect example of these people and why they love Trump.

Montessori has racist and eugenics roots. So not at all surprising that the tech bros like it. There’s a good article about this here (in German):

Absolutely. Another example: Elon Musk naming landing platforms after Culture ships. You know the anarcho-socialist society where one can change gender at will.

So incredibly ugly. Right up there with the Bianchi Oltre RC in the hideousness competition.

On the bright side, the whole fascism thing will once again be run by idiots.

That said, Bret Stephens still sucks. How can anyone be so consistently wrong about everything and still have a job?
comment in response to post
No, they didn’t. They actually seem to be growing a spine in the last two weeks before the election. That, or they want to to snatch the disenchanted WaPo subscribers.

It’s only fascism if it comes from the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy.

It was quite the trip from being famous (even outside of psychology) to his work being left out of newer literature or being discussed as junk science. So yeah, not that surprising that his passing didn’t get a lot of coverage.

I‘m convinced that Musk has never read Asimov or Banks. I mean, the Culture series e.g. is literally about an anarcho-communist society, where anyone can change their gender…

The NYT‘s record as newspaper is complex. While it offers some excellent articles outside of politics, it’s basically a Republican and fascism enabling rag, that suffers of incurable „bothsideism“ while trying to normalize racism, misogyny and plain insanity on the right political spectrum.

Which issues? Dismantling democracy, getting out of jail, persecuting minorities? It’s getting harder and harder for me to justify paying for a NYT subscription.

They say „unity“ and mean „subjugation“.

It’s playing into the right wing power game by literally attempting to give them power (it’s the mantra of „accelerating doom brings good things sooner“). So I don’t think it’s any better.

A loss might lead to no further elections though. When the choice is overcooked chicken vs. poison you have to consider that the poison might kill you.

Now contrast that approach with some leftists who are betting on a second Trump presidency, so that society breaks down and then „something“ happens that will lead to socialist nirvana. The right is often wrong, but they sure know the benefits of delayed gratification.
