I just learned about Unix `sponge` and can’t wait to cat/grep/sed my next file in place

I'm calling this the first "early beta" of hk: github.com/jdx/hk/relea...

good news and bad news on the hk front. The good news is I have loads of ideas on parallelism that should improve linting performance in different situations even more. The bad news is it's pushed v1 out a bit more.

a mise contributor not only added tests to the PR but _windows_ tests: github.com/jdx/mise/pul... color me impressed.

rust is just that good hk.jdx.dev

I wasn't happy with pre-commit or lefthook so I wrote my own called `hk`: github.com/jdx/hk

nix is has horrible DX. I wrote mise in part because I couldn't get nix to work after 2 attempts. I felt a DX-focused way to setup development environments was needed and 2 years in I think I was right.

weatherspark.com is one of my favorite websites. It's not a forecast app. It's good for seeing what the weather is typically like at a place during different times of the year or comparing the climates of different cities to see which is more humid or gets more snow.

it took some effort, but I think claude and I built a diagram to help you correctly pronounce œufs in french: claude.site/artifacts/e2... we'd appreciate any insight from native speakers here

you should totally buy this cheap pixel clock which can be flashed with this github.com/Blueforcer/a... it's so much fun

Our first issue of “Swift Stories” is out where we talk about Concurrency Oriented Programming Languages (COPL), interview @jdx.dev, the creator of Mise, and share exciting projects and ideas. Swift Stories is our love letter to the Swift ecosystem to cross-pollinate ideas tuist.dev/newsletter/i...

I've heard people tout powershell and although I never used it much, the idea of an object-oriented shell sounded incredible to me. Using it though? I can't stand it. The verbosity ruins any potential benefits IMO. Terseness is way more important in a shell than regular programming.

Things I like about the French language: * "chez moi" * "beau-père" - "beautiful dad" is how you say father-in-law or step-father * the word for bat is "chauve-souris" - which literally is "bald mouse" for some reason

back in the 2010s I wrote this article medium.com/@jdxcode/12-... which contains an interesting bit on cli perf

I'm very happy to see asdf being rewritten in Go. More innovation in this space is going to result in better tools for everyone. After all, mise probably wouldn't even exist if asdf didn't come first.

fish shouldn't have named this `fish_indent` but something more generic since it does more than just indenting fishshell.com/docs/current... For mise I went with `mise fmt` since I feel like `fmt` is the most common name for this type of CLI command.

one of the highlights of my childhood was when my parents got me 32mb of RAM. Look at me now.
