The tree can defeat the purpose of daylighting, potentially, by blocking the view, but it can certainly be a green space, good spot for flowers, if they can avoid being run over...

It is strange, there are a lot of very wealthy, very powerful people, who stand to lose *a lot* if social media brain rot burns the US to the ground, but either they too are brain rotted or they seem to think they can control the brain rot to their advantage somehow. It doesn't make sense to me.

Sure, but that is why the parrot would have been smeared and sidelined the first time it opened its beak...

It is crazy how good the production on Songs From the Big Chair still sounds today. Hearing it today is the equivalent to hearing something from 1945 when it came out back in 1985, except there is no comparison between 85 and 45, but today, the album released in 85 still sounds fantastic. Hmm.

They think that upzoning detached (RS1) zoning to allow 4plexes will increase the value of the land, making it more expensive for developers to buy up houses knock them down and build townhouses. But any time they rezone a (tiny) bit of land to allow townhouses, the land price adjusts to that, so 🤷‍♀️

Well, I guess you won, the same way my son wins when he plays FIFA against the bot on 'LLM-Quality' mode. R6 in round 3? That alone disqualifies the whole thing like a Price is Right item up for bid where everyone goes over and they have to sound the buzzer and make the whole process start over...

Here's a BEFORE / AFTER of the School Street.
Pick-up and drop-off used to be chaotic. With the exception of a those who insist on (illegally) driving right up to the barriers, parents and kids feel safer...

Exactly. They cry about family housing then block it in a million ways

Go to a real estate site and filter for Coquitlam, 5+ bathrooms, see what pops up in the detached house neighbourhoods and then think - this is just what is for sale at one point in time. But sure, quadplexes will destroy the city…

Not to mention that the city has no issue with 7 bed 7 bath mansions going in all over Coquitlam. And that most of the detached only zones have been losing population for a long time as the first time owners age

Replacing the surface parking lots with more intensive uses will improve the profitability of the island. Aside from that, the funding gap will need to be closed the same as Translink's was, squeeze the involved parties for a bit more cash, and more gov't funding. More housing would help too

I don't think it even rises to that level of rationality on the parts of the folks in charge, more just, 'I hate those pointed headed geeks who think they are better than us' level thought, in the US at least

Yeah, I mean people can only see and respond to so many ads in one day and I feel like most people are at their max already. As a paid product, I wonder how many people/companies will pay and how much (and for how long if they don't see a payoff worth the cost)

I'm just not sold on where all the future revenue to justify this capex is going to come from

Imagine how many fewer people would die and be injured if we took safety this seriously with respect to cars…

I think the right wing in Canada is just so all in with respect to the US based right wing noise machine that they just automatically follow along with whatever is happening in the US

Here is the list of zoning exceptions. Portland will now automatically grant up to 10 of these to almost any housing project, including a full additional story of height in all low-density zones

About what you might expect, given a full squad rotation against a solid opponent. Could have been worse, see USMNT vs SUI for example

It is quite a post-election shift we are seeing, I wonder how permanent it will be. My guess is a bit of a honeymoon phase that will fade over time, but may buy Carney a greater ability to get things done in the meantime...

I hope it bombs because I hate the plot. 1H: Violence isn't the answer, try to make peace, being yourself is OK even if you aren't he-man. 2H: Violence is the answer, defeat your enemies with raw force, being yourself is OK if you ARE he-man - you see, 1H was just a way to build power ahead of 2H...

Data is great, but it might be better to lead with a chart that gives a more realistic assessment of what is happening, i.e.:
