I also urge people to remember that trying to keep protest “peaceful” to pacify the very things people are protesting against is nonsensical. There is a book called Negroes with Guns by Robert F. Williams. It’s an account of a civil rights activist who wasn’t going to go about things passively.

Wow, that is... completely fucking psychotic, on the part of the union busters.

Okay, so like... What has he delivered? Nursing home deaths and sexual harassment headlines?

And ban huge trucks and SUVs from populated areas without commercial registration.
There is no excuse for giant automobiles with blind spots big enough to conceal grown adults being used as personal passenger vehicles.

These fucking weirdos think it's a *weakness* to have consistent principles based on our shared humanity.

Not for nothing, but I don't think I've ever had a friend publicly implicate me in a high-profile sex trafficking case

But also: totally agreed on the Occam's Razor point.

Sure. I phrased this initial comment really poorly. Kayfabe is the wrong word. But it does feel like Musk is only doing this cynically, to save his own brand, rather than it reflecting a genuine change of heart.
Trump, not so much. That dude is WAY too wide-open to do anything with subterfuge.

Get sick in any developed country in the world, you probably won't pay much (if anything) for treatment. If they can do it, why can't we? What makes us so uniquely weak, in these people's eyes, that we can't even take care of everyone within our borders?

Can't tell you how many times I've written something only to look back and go "huh. I really just took myself to therapy, didn't I?"

God, I'm sick of guys like that. They just sit there on the sidelines, getting paid millions of dollars to tell people why they shouldn't want healthcare, or infrastructure, or a living wage.

That's kinda what I was thinking, although I could've definitely expressed it more clearly. Like it's just a cynical move to protect his business interests, not an actual realignment of any kind. Idk though, he's also just a complete fool. Who's to say?

Yeah, you know what, fair. I'm probably giving both of them too much credit.

I think this might be kayfabe. No one likes Musk, not even on the Right. He's toxic to their brand. The whole "public breakup" thing just feels really artificial.

How the fuck is it a felony to conspire to commit misdemeanors? The law is saying "what you did wasn't that bad, but THINKING about doing it makes you a hardcore criminal."
