Hit & Run Alert We need your help tracking down a driver involved in a hit and run. On Sunday, June 1, at about 12:30 p.m., a motorcyclist was seriously injured on Morrison Road near the Bear Creek Park entrance after being hit by an SUV.

SCAM ALERT: Fake DMV Texts Targeting Coloradans Scam text messages pretending to be from the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles are making the rounds. Let’s clear this up: These messages are NOT from the Colorado DMV.

Tiny Tails & Chimney Escapes! 🦝 On May 19th, JCSO Animal Control officers responded to a wild (and kinda adorable) call near 14th St. & Nile St. A homeowner discovered that their wood-burning stove had become the temporary Airbnb for a raccoon family, four wiggly babies and their momma.

We had a flipping good time at the Annual Foothills Fire and Rescue Pancake Breakfast. More than 1000 hungry neighbors joined us at the Lookout Mountain Fire Station. Pancakes, syrup, and smiles were everywhere. Take a look at these photos for a small taste of the action.

Last night we had a great time meeting Jeffco residents at Saucy’s Pizza. Sheriff Marinelli, Undersheriff Eddy, and other JCSO staff shared laughs, answered questions, and enjoyed some truly delicious pizza.

Sloooooooow down! Today, one of our JCSO motors deputies pulled over a driver traveling 103 mph in a 65 zone. That’s nearly 40 mph over the limit! The stop happened on Hwy 285 at Garrison. The driver was issued a summons for speeding and reckless driving—but that wasn’t all.

On May 10, 2025, retired JCSO K9 Jessie crossed the rainbow bridge at the age of 12. Jessie served with the JCSO from 2014 to 2022, but her detection skills reached well beyond Jeffco's borders. She was deployed hundreds of times for tracking and human remains detection.
