EQ matching is hard for me and I need all the help I can get. Currently trial-ing FabFilter Pro-Q4: - EQ match gave better result than any other I tried - Perpetual license - No iLok - Uncluttered interface I truly don't want to spend this much money on an EQ, but seems worth it?

Something that helps me when I'm mixing complex ambiences is Reaper's mode where a track can become a 2-D canvas with resizable blocks. This allows for fades that would otherwise be impossible. Right click a track in the track control panel and select "Free Item Positioning Mode" #ReaperDAW

This new feature for ripple editing on item edge in #reaperDAW 7.35 is pretty nice. I really wish it worked on the left edge too though.

Made a script for #reaperDAW that lets you select adjacent items. Helpful for me with #podcastediting, saving me from zooming in each time to grab a clump of clips. Sound on for my explanation. Feel free to download, edit, and share. drive.google.com/drive/folder...

Sometimes I'll learn a German compound word and think that it's odd. And then I realize the English word is equally odd. Brust = breast Korb = basket Brustkorb = breastbasket, aka. ribcage. Rib cage??

Life intimidates art.

Audio editors: How are lowering dialog breaths in your audio? I've tried some of the automated solutions and (even with careful tweaking) have never found them reliable enough to actually use. I always revert to manually doing it.

Stop using those scummy "youtube downloader" sites. To my journo / editor friends, JDownloader is the best easiest way to get material off streaming sites and into your DAW/NLE. You can even pick video quality options, or just DL the audio, or the transcript. jdownloader.org/download/index

For interviews recorded in stereo (and other field tape) I find this #reaperDAW script helpful: nofish_Normalize take pan (Loudness based).lua It pans the item so that left and right are equally loud. It is a quick way to put off-center voices in the middle.

Came across a commotion outside the grocery store: two people arguing about a splattered carton of yogurt while a yogurt-speckled dog goes to town on the mess.

Informal poll: If a soup recipe says it keeps for 3 days in the fridge....how many days would you keep it for?

Pretty intrigued by this item-based granular synthesizer for #reaperdaw. I really like that you can control the position with an envelope. Clouds, by Daniel Mertz: daniellumertz.gumroad.com/l/ReaperClouds

I've learned just enough German to realize that people aren't saying "I think I spider"

Wrote a python function and VSCode's AI helper recommended I add this comment to the code. Fair enough.

Strongly recommend any audio folk looking for a great retreat in April to apply to The ECCO round 2. I was part of the first cohort and loved it. Deadline is Jan 12th. www.theecco.org/round2-sprin...

Some people keep a memory palace. I have an anecdote cornmaze.

As someone who really, really enjoyed retreat #1, I strongly encourage Europe-based audio people to apply and treat themselves with an inspiring & uplifting time - especially if you're a freelancer like me. 👋

Mixing is mostly the art of learning which knobs NOT to turn.
