Doncaster Rovers must be in the fall programme someway, somehow!

Damnit, I’m like 2 blocks from there right now and won’t be at noon.

Bought my brother’s Christmas present at a WarHammer store in Lyon while on my honeymoon. In August. Most foresight I’ve ever had.

It’s a problem you think we need to explain ourselves. Don’t.

… Bhalla is considered pretty far left? I lived in Hoboken for 3+ years while he was mayor and would never have considered that.

I can’t be the only one who’s comforted by the thought process of “okay, we’re fine short-term, let’s not mess with PSR for this account year”, right?

I was obsessed with Cinderella Man when I was in college, for some reason. In retrospect, Paul Giamatti carried that movie.

It’s almost 40 Celsius here in Philadelphia today. I too wish to escape to Merseyside.

Bo is right behind his dad? That’s oddly sweet.

There’s a memorial park in Westfield, NY to commemorate Lincoln meeting the tween girl who suggested he grow a beard.

I have a manuscript about a Civil War regiment that I’m revising. I did a ton of aggregating from roster rolls and medical cards - I dread trying to figure out how to cite it.

Yeah, and Gomes had already had a successful loan. The signing made sense! With “Everton need to learn…”, who exactly are they talking about? The decision makers on those transfers, Moshiri aside, have been gone for 3+ years.

If you look at the players who left on a free after a big signing: - Sigurdsson was persona non-grata - Bolaise and Gbamin had devastating injuries after arriving at the club. That’s like £90 million in fees right there and none were because of bad scouting.

Who cares if Tod Carter was mortally wounded 200 yards from his parents’ house? His cause was not a noble one.

Do you know of The Who’s Pinball Wizard?

A particularly bad hurricane season’s worth of letters.

I’m reading the second book of Ian Toll’s trilogy about the Pacific War right now. Tarawa was brutal to read about. One of the key takeaways was “shell into oblivion before landing anyone.”

I wrote a response in r/AskHistorians that didn’t get deleted! Properly used MLA citations and everything!

Rick Moranis got annoyed with me because I had a mental lapse while counting his change.

Apparently, Eminem wrote many of the Papa Doc rap battle lyrics based on Mackie’s actual background.

Was not expecting to see my mother’s Alma mater (Morrisville) on this list!

Some people seem averse to Moyes having decision-making power on transfers, and I really don’t get that. Spotting and utilizing talent is his true strength.

Why is it a winner? There’s hundreds of countries and thousands of clubs. I’ll go see any country play in the WC next year, but I’d only see the CWC for the team I support.

The Bears are trying to get a new stadium. I wonder if this is “fact finding.”

My now-wife was doing some temp work at my company a few weeks before our wedding, so they threw us a surprise wedding shower. The means of getting me to the shower was a Gchat that said “There’s food.” Worked well!

When I was in High School, you could pay $10 after 6pm at the local course and get in as many holes as you could before dusk / the sprinklers came on. I used triple hand me down clubs. This is my benchmark for golf prices and everything else is way too expensive.

Re: Bates, Ebere, Campbell - depending on their wages, could it be an effort to hold on to them in the hopes of making a profit through sale?

A very decent NES game that barely resembles the plot of the movie.

Did I learn about the YouTuber who bought the French 2nd Tier soccer broadcasting rights from AA? Regardless, there’s always a chance!

Which Premier League team do you support? What led you to choose them? My team: Everton. Why? I watched the Prem as a neutral for 5 years and eventually realized it bothered me the most when Everton lost. Went all in at the end of the 2011-2012 season and haven’t regretted it. You?

He has a VERY distinct style and approach. His work is often quirky, and he pulls from a recurring pool of actors, including Bill Murray.

TIL that Bliss was born in the Syracuse-area town of Brutus. Seems fitting for someone who, even unintentionally, killed a President.

From the header of Ted Gregory’s Wikipedia article: “However, a shocked Dan Reeves, who is also listed as 6'1"[3] commented, "I'm taller than he is!" upon meeting Gregory after the draft. By Reeves's estimate, Gregory was closer to 5'9".”
