Here’s how I handled crowded trails: 1. Bell not voice. Carries farther and cuts better thru music. 2. Slow and coast around peds. Hands on brakes. Expect the u-turn. 3. Move completely to the opposite side of the trail.

Yeah, if you’re going to wear them then best to keep the volume low (and ANC off) or just wear one.

This was also an issue when I commuted along the CCT.

Highly unlikely.

The parade itself already is a (free) ticketed event. Passing through security may prove to be a hassle and I expect no protest signs will be allowed.

Why is this being done? Spite?

So are these BYOP - Bring Your Own Pannier?

I’d appreciate doing something about the use of personal mobility vehicles on sidewalks.

Many in DC have free or heavily subsidized transit. My last job my employer paid half and my half was pre-tax.

I recall George H Bush being astonished by supermarket checkout scanners during the 1992 presidential campaign. They had been introduced in recent years but it was clear to the general public he doesn’t shop.

Or manufacturing will stay in Taiwan and Vietnam and bikes destined for the US market will go to Portugal first for assembly before shipping here as imports from Portugal have a lower tariff. Under this scenario the US actually loses the assembly jobs it currently has.

Such a shame. There’s a good chance of me purchasing an e-bike in the next year or two but not if a 47% tariff increase is passed on. www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-new...

👏 I applaud including a ‘Relative to Completion’ interval. I’m on Things 3 and many of my recurring tasks use that pattern.

Does that cover liability as well?

Just this moment I wrote a note to myself to explore setting up a budget tracker in Craft. Don’t need anything fancy so not inclined to get with a dedicated app.

Here in DC they just slice thru the bricks and, when finished, patch with asphalt.

The issue with SS (and Medicare) is that these are popular GOVT programs. Their ideology doesn’t allow for government to do anything good.

“Joyce, what happens when this fascist regime is no longer in power?” Your presuming a future I’m no longer certain about. Clearly Trump et al are playing for keeps.

I know it was a cost cutting measure but it is a shame the Metro station for Dulles doesn’t deliver you right to the terminal. When infrastructure is built we live with the decisions for 50+ years.

Strange parallel as Putin insists Ukraine is not either.

How well they keep the wearer’s head cool in Summer. I suffered for years until I found the POC Octal.

As with the plastic straws it’s a distraction and Presidents have much more important things they should be doing with their time.

I feel tags are coming soon. Will it be possible to tag either a document/page/card or tag an individual block? Sometimes I have a page of mixed content and would like the ability to tag just a portion which would help me later if I want to focus on pulling together references.

If the total costs of car ownership were metered like a taxi I bet many would consider alternatives more often.

Why are you assuming that was the case? I’ve already seen screenshots of the ATC tracks posted.

Angles are hard to discern at night but my guess is jet, moving faster and approaching from behind, descended into the helicopter as it crossed the jet’s path. It would have been difficult for either pilot to see.

No public storage of cars (aka street parking) also helps.

When I find a payment card I just call the bank’s number on the back to report it as lost and destroy the card. The bank will issue the cardholder a new one.

I was harassed by a driver repeatedly making close passes at me on R St. I even called 911 when I could see the driver waiting up ahead to do it again. Since then I avoid R & Q.

This is an interesting look at Hitler’s decision to declare war on the US. He wasn’t obligated to by treaty and there was no strategic benefit to doing so. But doing so solved a potentially tricky political problem for FDR. books.apple.com/us/book/hitl...

An issue I’ve read (and experienced) with 14th St NW is the bus platforms are near-side of the intersection resulting in cyclists and turning drivers having difficulty seeing each other as the sight line is blocked by the bus stop infrastructure and waiting passengers.
