Yes, I was very proud of them! I asked them to consider possible dimensions of the concept, so they primarily conceptualized it as a combination of factors. Things like: 'directed hostility', 'unfair use of power', '(lack of) responsiveness', 'condescending manner', and 'excessive homework'.

True story! I use other 'news aggregators' a lot less often now. I trust the people I'm following to tell me what's up far more than I trust the tech bros and their algorithms.

I confess, I'm having trouble forgiving the pundits and other assorted hot-take peddlers who treated threats to my country's sovereignty as a distraction.

I used to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and assume good faith / positive intent. That's just a recipe for abuse, though.
I also assumed that the invisible hand of the marketplace of ideas would somehow fix things. But that marketplace, if it even exists, was never free.

I never had a Twitter account. I occasionally thought about getting one because I'd heard academic Twitter was good - but even back before Musk, tales of toxicity were enough to give me pause.
I decided to try out Bluesky after hearing it felt like the early days of the internet.
