Police brutality captured on ABC7-- as the police chief gives a press conference. A fire breaks out, then cops brutally assault a protestor. They run him over with a horse and hit him with batons several times, despite the fact he does not pose any threat to the officers. Cops are rioting.

LAPD unlawfully issuing orders to press today ("MEDIA GO!"). California Penal Code 409.7 explicitly exempts journalists from dispersal orders. LAPD knows this and command staff has been trained on it.

The crowd and noise is escalating. Cops are shooting what sounds like flashbangs to try to get people to leave, but it's not working The flashbangs are extremely loud. Crowd is chanting "Si Se Puede!" The protestors could use earplugs! Bring some giant containers of earplugs if you go!

I can't tell you HOW PISSED Los Angeles is right now. Every single person I know and every group chat (no matter the original topic) is 100% focused on what's happening, and the solidarity is universal across the city. Reminds me of 2020. Here's a cop car with a come wedged on top for fun.

Dolores Huerta, a 95 year old labor organizer with deep roots going back even before the Delano Grape Strike in 1965, here in Boyle Heights speaking at a protest. She called the past several days of detainments throughout Los Angeles a “horrible assault.”

These protests and direct actions are not just symbolic. People are responding to masked kidnappers storming local homes and businesses to steal families. ICE is kidnapping children at immigration proceedings and separating them from their parents. They kidnapped a 4th grader from my city.

Sometimes, I think about how California has the fourth largest economy in the world, Southern California the 13th, that 10% of the money in the treasury comes from California and that these idiots gutted the IRS and just… wonder what would happen if we stopped paying taxes.
