Suspect it has bugger-all to do with reach or breadth but legally looping other writers whose work can be fed into the AI legally. Let's face it: stuff from those writers probably will still be fed into it (if it hasn't already), but extra-legally so and legal recourse may still be possible.

I suspect Cheetolini will keep mum for now because the Muskrat (a) has too much damned money; and (b) he now knows too much.

Your mother warned you that'd happen if you kept doing that...

Oh, damn it: jumbled the dates. Should have been 71 years AND a day apart. F*ck my perpetually math-addled head.

He's just disappointed that Max von Sydow got so little to do.

Will keep an eye out for it. Occurs to me now that in 96 I'd have been either finishing my BA or starting my MA (in English) and going insane with reading. How the hell did I forget that I went from finishing one thesis (on Graham Greene) and vaulting into a second on Leonard Cohen? Ugh...

Forgive me for not knowing the book, but at this point I could have read, taught and written about your book and my ability to recall it would be dubious at best. Memory's a hell of a thing... / literally went through a rediscovery of a book I once taught repeatedly and completely forgot... Egad.

It may be appalling, but you can't say you're surprised by this. Hell, just look at the relentless burnishing of Liz Truss-- of all people-- for no sanely conceivable reason whatsoever.

To be fair, there was zero chance he wrote the first thing. Nothing in that feels even remotely like him.

Knew even before I opened it that Stephen Fry would be among the first fave on the list...

Oh, f*ck off. And into the block you go, where you belong.

You're spinning very far from where I was (obviously) very specifically talking about. Many things can be "big news" which registers bugger-all. To the people I've been in contact with-- do I have to make that point AGAIN?-- it's not registering: it's just a bit of something and "fine, whatever."

Cut to Cary Grant sing-shouting about how it's time to go to Happy Dale...

Just based on my experience, only some even know and far, far, far fewer care beyond it being on the news or on in their horrid social feeds. And by "being on [news/socials]," I mean, "they see something, it's there a bit, it goes away immediately."

As a Canadian, no one I know or am in contact with paid even the slightest of attention to it. It's a lead story on the news, yes, but no one actually cares. Not about Charles, not about the Throne Speech (or any TS). Most people I know had no clue Charles was even here.

And if that happens, Canada will be trapped behind enemy lines.

Well, if nothing else, it makes UNCHARTED seem like THE LAST CRUSADE by comparison.

I'll affirm a nod to TNC. A half of one to Jeff G. McArdle was practically think-tank libertarian wire-feed. And Sullivan, jeez... what a disgrace he is...

Oh, dear lord, wasn't that also where Douthat first gushed about "starbursts" (or whatever it was) over Sarah frickin' Palin? Seems a dozen lifetimes ago. / would also have been way back when Sullivan was in mea culpa mode before his inevitable return to form...
