Fucking terrifying that a mayoral candidate can be arrested by masked agents of the authoritarian government like this. And since everything is political, we shall see if Cuomo condemns this.* *He will not.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure these programs are good and helpful, but the Marines are deployed in an American city, a Democratic politician was just assassinated, and the Senate is trying to pass the largest ever rollback of Americans' social safety net. WTF is she doing?

There are no spoilers in ranked choice voting

He literally cross endorsed with Zohran yesterday. Rank them both!

What's your take on Manhattan BP?

If they were smart they wouldn't be conservative

Beyond being good for the primary strategy, this also sets the stage for a potential WFP success in November even if Cuomo eeks our a Dem primary win. With the 'I want a terrible person as Mayor' vote split three ways between Cuomo, Adams, and Silwa, a Mamdani/Lander(FDM) ticket could be FPTP.

What makes this especially cruel is that a marginal $7k at the top means very little. Maybe compounded over decades you can retire a few months earlier. Whereas the loss of $4k at the bottom is devastating. It will push people into homelessness, malnourish children, induce crime, and break families

This is going to be extremely hard to poll, because it's not only about preference, but whether voters actually fill out the 2-5 ranks on their ballot to express that preference. My prior is that a larger percentage of Mamdani voters would prefer Lander than the opposite, but fewer will rank past 1

What you're betting on here is that more of Lander 's first choice voters will rank Mamdani than Mamdani 's first choice voters will rank Lander. Idk which way that swings, but that's the only way your marginal ranking vote changes whether Cuomo wins.

...on AT proto?

Yeah, the red bubbles form a pretty solid 'rank these people first' endorsement. BP is my only uncertain vote, but Powers keeps taking positions I agree with.

It makes sense within this context that Trump would be aiming to induce a shift from peaceful to violent protests. That tracks with actions so far. Unlike traditional politicians, I think he sees a path that doesn't require democratic success to retain power in the state force case...

If only objective truth existed and could be reported on.

Uncomfortable given The Onion's track record of predicting the news recently...

In covering Trump and Miller, you can be truthful and derisive, or misleading to avoid derision. ABC has chosen to mislead its viewers.

Yeah, and toasted bagel preference is more a condemnation of Absolute Bagel than him. Perfect, fresh bagels are harmed by toasting, but toasting elevates lesser bagels. May also relate to less popular poppy seed preference which doesn't turn over at the rate of everything bagels.

Those cross tabs! 61% of under-45s have 'very unfavorable' view of Cuomo. Gotta keep pushing those numbers up. #abc

"this is not about forgiveness, I just think a sexual predator should be mayor" - Ramos

Totally. I still can't believe that congressional Dems haven't been holding covid-style briefings every day of the trump admin to just run through the terrible things that happened that day and what they're doing to fight back.

She has no path, and all the WFP, DREAM, and AOC slate voters just dropped her from their lists.

It's not much better, but I think half of the institutional Cuomo support is out of fear of Trump-like retaliation if Cuomo wins rather than fear of progressive alternatives.

I think he also could have made the migrant influx a source of strength and success if he'd been inclined to do so: issue city-based work permits or establish a CCC inspired program for asylum-seeking people to contribute to housing construction, park beautification, or neighborhood cleanup.

What's so frustrating about Adams (besides the corruption) is that he had big opportunities that he failed to seize. One big fail: permanent street usage reform post COVID (expanding outdoor dining, large containerization in place of parking, aggressive bike/bus network expansion)
comment in response to post
Eh, both are aligned with big ideas but small and partial in implementation. Nothing close to the universal Pre-K or streetscape+rezoning legacy of De Blasio or Bloomburg.

Yep. I'm honestly a little conflicted about that. Great that they're not huge trucks, but they're also large for bike lanes...

Arguably Star Wars. Droids have superhuman intelligence, but are never the ones trying to destroy others (despite being used by evil actors)

Please cross-endorse Lander, Myrie, A. Adams, and Ramos! Don't risk repeating history where Wiley failed to use her platform to ensure her voters ranked Garcia over Adams.

Fair. Including Mamdani is definitely important, but also other potential final round candidates (esp for Mamdani first choice folks - don't want to relive the tragedy of Wiley voters throwing away their votes). I guess if DREAM is going to advocate for anyone, they should just endorse a slate.
