So they are on the official record for when things go terribly wrong they cannot claim ignorance. Lying to Congress while effectively under oath is a very big deal. Or at least it used to be before, well, all of this.

The point is to drum up as much support as they can while it has a brief moment in the spotlight when it is released. You get a message about a new book being released on Monday - but no reviews yet, so you forget about it and don’t follow up. OR there are reviews and your interest is piqued

But he did clearly say that no one should listen to him for medical advice, so that is something at least.

If the point of you going from point A to point B is to exercise, then using a car to get there defeats the purpose. Enjoy your heart disease.

I have not yet read this book, but it is currently The University of Chicago Press's free ebook of the month, so have downloaded it and will be giving it a read.

Precisely, not offering a way to verify their validity and authority is all kinds of level of terrifying.

They do have their badges, but they refused to give their names? And when requested did not provide their ID numbers?

They are already doing this with the actions of DOGE. You being complicit will only add a sense of legitimacy to their actions.

One of the unique things about working at the VA is how common it is to have overly effusive grateful patients, to the point of tears, for the care they receive. I would hear some vet say they would be dead without the VA on a weekly basis.

That is wonderful! Abdominal adhesions effectively limits the number of abdominal surgeries a person can undergo in their lifetime. Please share what NIH grants were involved in this. People should know what they potentially losing with NIH cuts.

Some legitimately good reading.

MD from University of Kansas School of Medicine. I would suggest brushing up on your CMEs.

You have a frank misunderstanding of the science of obesity and endocrinology.

That is at least my understanding - I'm certainly not an expert, and certainly wouldn't say that I'm smarter than you

Investors saw that governmental policies under Biden were going to be favorable to Tesla, so the stock went up.
comment in response to post
When Biden came into office he was pretty clear he was going to be pushing clean energy initiatives - meaning that he was likely to encourage the investment in that infrastructure - making EVs more competitive, which is good for Tesla.
comment in response to post
One of the biggest barriers to EVs becoming more ubiquitous is the lack of infrastructure, such as charging stations, that exist for EVs.

What is the something you are saying / implying happened? Something positive? Increased confidence in the e-car industry? Something nefarious? Back door deals? In a literal not sarcastic sense, why do you care that the stock skyrocketed after the election?

I am legitimately curious what point you were trying to make - I don’t like to make assumptions about peoples intentions, and can’t respond to your / the graphics initial question without knowing what you are even asking

Those are great wrinkles, they make you look like you smile! My worst wrinkle is a DEEP Glabellar line that makes it obvious I spend a fair amount of time frowning. I swear it's in concentration, but I doubt it comes across that way.

Do you have a point? Or “just asking questions” in bad faith to attempt to introduce doubt without actually taking a real stance?

I, in all my wisdom, completely missed the "No Thanks" option below the offer to subscribe. Sorry for failing to read!

It would be helpful to have a single article to read before subscribing to determine what type and quality of content is available after subscription.

It is not pretending to be anything else - it's even in black and white. It's to remind us of the successful change that these types of movements have made in the past.

It's not a meme, it's a political cartoon representing the daily experiences of women physicians.

I'm assuming they thought you were being intentionally obtuse when it seems like a misunderstanding. Oh well! Though what happened to you is why I changed my settings for the tiered comments - not very pretty and you can't collapse them, but hopefully that will be a feature soon.

I don't know what is up with your feed - that is not the comment they were replying to.

Didn't you know that there is not a single Democrat living in Kansas? We're going to ignore the fact that we have a Democrat governor that we re-elected despite the pandemic and the country shifting to the right.
comment in response to post
He seems to be (intentionally) overlooking the fact that, as a senator, he represents all Kansans, including the 40% who voted Democrat. It appears he missed the important civic lesson that his role is to serve all constituents, not just those who voted for him.

Yeah, I'm fine with taking off the decals - I think that's a fine signal. But replacing it with something else is just trying to perpetuate a lie.
