It's not just the blatant red light running, it's also the speed. When someone yells about a bicyclist running a red light or a stop sign, it's always helpful to point out they're not doing it with the weight of a car and enough speed to destroy a human being.

A 7 year old and 10 year old should be able to walk around the neighborhood on their own. On Google maps, it looks like the road they were on has sidewalks, but it’s a “stroad,” which is dangerous for pedestrians. Charging the grieving parents in this situation is sick.
