Since creating my Lumpy Clay Pieces, I’ve gotten better at wheel throwing. I can only work at small sizes and still struggle with trimming (which is an aspect of ceramics I wasn’t even aware of), but I can now make smooth clay vessels, like this baby doll. “Muñequita.” Ceramic, 2.25” x 4.25”.

Sometimes you just have to post your L’s, by which I mean lumpy clay pieces! Here are the first three pieces I threw on a wheel. When my instructor saw them, she said I “certainly have a style.” A lumpy clay style, obviously, and it’s fresh to death!
