AES says it's more the latter than the former. But in Indiana we allow utilities to charge ratepayers for maintenance and more so I don't find that believable. Their costs HAVE gone up, but a lot is data center related.

That way, constituents across the city are able to explain to regulators how they would be impacted by this increase.
Thank you for your leadership, Councilors Evans and Roberts!

Across from Woodruff place during one of the largest events on the near east side the Woodruff Place Flea Market. I can't tell what happened, but there are cars and people everywhere. No real reason to not take it low and slow.

Ugh, I biked by on Brookside at 1:15. Terrifying and infuriating. Though I'm grateful that the driver remained on the scene!

BNS reported there's no obvious permits recently on right of way work here, so they're investigating. Thanks for the heads up!

Is it? Last I heard they were still looking for a developer (though part of the site was transferred to the State in exchange for the former Women's Prison site)

I've never been happier in my life than I've been as an elected official. Every day, no matter what's going on, I count my lucky stars for the privilege and honor of serving.

You're very kind! I'm working harder to be more effective every day, so hopefully it gets better from here.

This is terrible. Single-vehicle? Does this mean she likely hit a stationary object?

Ugh, in broad daylight? I know Little Flower has a very actively engaged safe streets committee working to slow down 10th Street and the traffic coming through this area. Just goes to show what we are up against...

I was not involved in conversations around this site, but I will say as I've biked by frequently, I have seen lots of people dropping off / picking up people from the building there in front. That doesn't meaningfully change your analysis, though. Can you shoot me an email with info re: agreement?

By now there's pretty broad agreement that though some cool art has been created through the Public Art for Neighborhoods program, this doesn't in any way replace the need for local flavor and unique districts. So this spring fiscal is helping fund cultural districts directly.

The Cultural Districts have gone through a few phases. For a while, the more recent "Public Art for Neighborhoods" initiative (requiring developers asking for city help to commit 1% of their budget to art projects) was seen by some as a replacement for Cultural District funding.

Actually not very related to any of those topics! There are seven areas of Indianapolis designated as being cultural hubs:

I don't believe a specific forest has been identified for the $1 million, but I did get confirmation it's explicitly for forest preservation via land acquisition, which is what the Indiana Forest Alliance had been pushing for.

Here's the memo we received about it:

Okay, following up after my meeting.
The $500,000 is going to be offered to cultural districts which apply - an online application will be opening soon. The funding will go to Tier 1 (existing Cultural Districts) or Tier 2 (aspirational / new Cultural Districts) for specific programming.

I'm meeting with the Council CFO on Thursday, after which I'm happy to share details. Thus far, I have not been involved in any decisions whatsoever around the spring fiscal.

UPDATE: This incident involved a bicyclist and their child in a carrier. The child, an 18-month-old girl, is being transported by medics.
