Yall I’ve been published before online, but I can’t even tell you how cool it is to hold a book—with my story inside it—in my hands. COSTS OF LIVING from @whisperhousepress.bsky.social comes out in September. Make sure you check it and then out!

I love Bsky because I log in and my feed is pretty much all writing and cats, but damn I wish I got more engagement. Maybe it’ll just take time.

Does anyone else have nonexistent locations that reoccur repeatedly in dreams? I have a lot of real locations that look different from real life in my dreams, and then there is a place I call the White Tower, a marble skyscraper that serves a lot of purposes.

Started writing a new story, soft sci-fi. I’m not going to say if it’s a short, novelette, or what, it will figure itself out later. When they say to write what you know, this one deals with overstimulation.

End up talking to a guy who had never read Stephen King before, yesterday at my local bookstore because, as soon as I walked in the door, the owner was like “This is just the person you need.” I ended up sending him off with a copy of Rita Hayworth & the Shawshank Redemption.

Anyone else end up with 4,000 open tabs when they use Submission Grinder?

Sometimes I wish I were one of those moms whose whole world revolved around taking care of my kids and running my house, so that it wouldn’t bother me so much when I finally have a plan/time to write and it gets sidetracked by other stuff.

Today I had to do a half a dozen loads of laundry, and I feel like I got hair my steps in today just going back and forth to the laundry room.

While I was gone afew days, I as operating heavy machinery (but not into power lines), eating soul food, seeing Les Mis with my kid and doing various and sundry other things.

Oh hey! I hit 200 followers!

After four years, today was the last day of volunteering at my kids’ elementary school, shelving books. There are some things I’m definitely going to miss (seeing the latest middle grade books). There are some things I’m not (the wet sound of small children coughing).

Watched the first episode of “Murderbot” with the fam. Now, in bed early, reading a book. Just the way it should be.

Gut a hold on a story! Yay! It’s been awhile. Publication crossed out so I don’t jinx myself.

Eating a fudgsicle and reading a horror novel because that’s how I do.

Bebiendo café y practicando mi español. Que haces esta mañana? (Drinking coffe and practicing Spanish. What are you doing this morning?)

Did I just order the 2006 Stephen King miniseries Nightmares & Dreamscapes on DVD? Yes, yes I did. For reasons.

Apparently, boxes from @shortwavebooks.bsky.social make perfect cat holders I had to fight her to get my copy of REST STOP out from under her.

Yo, hey, more people are following me now! Hi! I hope you’re not bots! 🙃

I wish, whenever you bought an ebook, they’d send you a cardboard replica to put on your shelf and remind you you’ve got that book to read. Mostly because I can’t even fathom what I’ve forgotten about on my digital TBR.

I want to write but it’s been a long day and my back hurts.

This is one of those weeks where I have appointments every day (perio today, PT and car tomorrow, then hair, then vet Friday). I despise it. It’s a lot of peopling and being placed on time (and waiting around to go those places) and I don’t wanna do it. But I will because I am an adult. Boo.
