We've been fighting this battle for decades. The next shiny new toy comes out that will fix everything, and everyone rushes to prove they are innovating. Not to mention names, but AI (cough cough) is now in that boat, AI will fix everything, just implement something in it, anything....

All that said -- I continue to believe that the best way for companies to have great in-house talent is to hire junior developers, and to run their own training programs, and to generally invest in people. The absolute best developers I know have come out of those environments.
