Deer are prey. Even as they rest the ears and eyes stay sharp.
A good model for protecting democracy.

I worried that my Chili would not know what was “hers” when she moved in.
A needless worry. She decided everything was “hers”.

We are also getting ready to introduce our new puppy.
I turned our living space upside-down. Sent hubby in to a near conniption. He asked who I was sprucing the house up for?
For Miley of course.
He had made the mistake suggesting there was “no room” for her bed.

True. Its foundation is fear.
The same with poverty. The poor are feared because the difference between us all is a hair’s breadth.
A little misfortune here and there.
It is not personal failure.

I am insanely jealous here on the Northern Canadian prairie. I will be lucky to set late August.

Yup. The oblivious have made that mistake with me, to their detriment.
People should be sensitive in their introductions. Take time to know the person. Randos don’t know my history. They don’t know the horrors I have faced down. My spine is steel.

Fluent ASL is emotive.
I managed to tell my co-workers that my grandpa passed in English without breaking down. English couches emotion.
Not so with ASL. When I told my deaf co-worker I broke down. Sign the feeling, feel the feeling.

My favourite recipe is a rhubarb compote. The sugar draws out enough moisture to allow the cubes of rhubarb to keep their shape.
The local church ladies combine Saskatoons (serviceberry) with the rhubarb. The tartness of the rhubarb improves the Saskatoons.

It is so beautiful. Cut your sammiches in to little squares and stick a toothpick in it.

Oh yes. You are in no danger of a bear trap.
The potential date who speed read your profile, however…..

I have a virgin order in my back pocket for just such an eventuality.
You could act like a tourist at the bar. Repeatedly noting the quaint behaviour of the natives.
I have quiet contempt for people who don’t take the smallest steps to learn anything about me. They deserve a bear trap.

As a Canadian I say the well is toxic. I’m never going to feel secure in the US again. I will do all I can to avoid it.
The American ambassador telling Canadians to calm down sends me in to apoplexy.
Here in Canada I love my Filipino hospitality workers (good morning ma’am, thank you ma’am).

The local magpies teamed up to tease our big boy Siamese higher up the biggest tree and teased him to the very tips.
My big boy finally caved.
Hated magpies to his dying day.

A flock of magpies would deflate that illusion.

You are doomed.
We had a cat who refused her harness. We peeked through the window and as soon as we were out of sight she did several Houdini backflips and she was free.
