Simple answer - re-join the #singleMarket. 20% of those lost revenues will go back to the treasury. There will be enough funds for benefits for those who need it most.

Trade gravity model states we trade most with the closest markets. We cannot change our geography. Poverty caused by #Brexit is driving voters to Reform. The irony of it. They caused this mess. #Labour must disown hard #Brexit and do the right thing. northeastbylines.co.uk/news/opinion...

Renewable energy could help many families hit by fuel poverty to save if appropriate grants were provided. We've got to think of the human cost of NOT investing in renewables/environment.

Meanwhile, in County Durham, Nigel Farage says employees in climate change/diversity should seek other careers. Ironically, Durham council invested in solar projects (2019-21) which reduce council utilities bills.

It's not just the chlorinated chicken problem, their attitude to Net Zero is also out of touch with reality. A lesser known consequence is neglect for the environment will impact our trading model with Europe. See this piece. #Reform northeastbylines.co.uk/news/environ...

Protection for the environment and supporters of universal base income #GreenParty. Other constituencies might not be so lucky. The public should read this before considering a #Reform vote. 👇

Shame we do not have EU legislators above the government to moderate legislation. Doreen Lawrence wrote it was an extra safety net against governments in office whose actions harmed citizens. www.newstatesman.com/politics/201...

#labour could easily devise a trading model based on the #singleMarket under another name + control migration from Europe. What about mobility for all ages? People lost livelihoods. HMRC lost tax revenue.

Recently, I had my bike repaired by a local cycle repair co, On You Cycle. Joe, the owner, mentioned the extra paperwork+ time involved to take equipment on cycling tours in Europe where he supports race teams. So many sectors hit by this red tape.

Although a few years old please see my own Bylines Times article on the problems facing SMEs trying to export to the EU since Brexit.

Agree with @arj2024.bsky.social. Government has to get SMEs trading with Europe again. Trade gravity model => we trade most with the closest market. Plus if we did ever re-join, EU members benefit from global trade deals Europe does, respecting standards

3/ When we present facts to people, they either don't understand simple trade terms or are so brainwashed they still go for these snake oil salesmen. They don't realize #Farage will privatise the NHS, sell us to Trump + we will all be worse off.

2/ + those coming in need a job/savings/health insurance to stay > 3 months. He thought that was ok. Reminded him #Farage never discussed that law, that we never needed #Brext to control immigration from Europe. His conclusion - he would still vote for #Farage because he's a strong leader..🙄

1/ #Farage supporter I know complained about the Trump tariffs, rising cost of living, that labour is terrible... I asked him - so we need better trade with Europe again (single market) to counteract this. He agreed.. I explained we can control migration using article 7 citizens' directive. ...

EU legislation is bolder in controlling tech giants. In an excellent presentation a few months ago from ‪@anothereurope.bsky.social‬, it was mentioned EU legislation can impose fines of up to 60% of worldwide turnover on tech giants failing to comply. @julie4north.bsky.social

On dangers of tech, it's not just far right extremist politics we face. #onlinesafetybill must not be watered down for a #Trump trade deal. Don't let more tragic incidents happen again to anyone else. #Starmer should listen to #EsterGhey's words of wisdom on this.
