Agree re mobilization. A general strike in LA would be helpful (remember Seattle 1919) but what is the appropriate tactic in DC next weekend with tanks in the streets?

Musk’s wealth — once a GOP testimonial to his brilliance — is now a GOP target zone. 🤡

www.nytimes.com/athletic/640... New national sport?

www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j... Go for it. Let the UK rejoin or become the 51st state (a/k/a Airstrip One)

www.haaretz.com/israel-news/... This has always been the case and with many tens of thousands of lives in the balance where is the path between a monster war criminal and the terror regime he helped come to power?

Scratch Ramos

Sunday June 8th, 4pm at Artbook @ MoMA PS1 J. Hoberman’s Everything Is Now: The 1960s New York Avant-Garde—Primal Happenings, Underground Movies, Radical Pop. J. Hoberman will be in conversation with Melissa Rachleff Burtt.

To read a review like this is to feel repaid with interest for every hour I put into this project. I learned things about my own book and cannot thank the writer enough.

and out of our heads.

That blowhard talks the talk but can he walk the walk?

ok NOW this is actually getting interesting

Flo Jacobs (1941-2025) A beautiful woman, a beautiful soul, passed peacefully at home under the skylight in the Chambers Street loft where she and her husband Ken lived & made art for some 60 years.

That dimwit knows about "ideological capture" (dollar words!) first hand.

It's like being summoned by the Gestapo or KGB. According a stat mentioned in last night's debate, 40% of NYC population is foreign born. ICE attacks us.

Correction: There were 4 first-generation candidates: Blake, Ramos, Mamdani, & Myrie, all worth ranking.

Michael Blake also scored. Should mention that immigrant rights were strongly defended throughout & Khalil by all. At least 3 participants had foreign-born parents. ICE is an attack on us.

www.nytimes.com/2025/06/05/n... Adrienne Adams very strong perf. Moderators gave Cuomo too much time, failed to mention congestion pricing & shamefully baited Mamdani (who did well) re Israel. Demo in pic organized by Local 78: Asbestos Workers.

Wouldn't have been more accurate to say that genocide itself help cause (not, I repeat, not justify) the Boulder attack?

www.thecity.nyc/2025/06/03/i... This is happening next door.

www.nytimes.com/2025/06/03/u... "Mr. Trump kept a book of Adolf Hitler’s speeches in a cabinet by his bed, according to his first wife." So he can read! (I've always thought that his father hideous Fred, once arrested at a KKK rally in Queens, was a supporter of the pro-Nazi German-American Bund.)

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... Is it unkind to call this woman an idiot?

Todd Solondz’s playfully named burlesque of bourgeois mores encompasses murder, mutilation, rape, pedophilia, suicide, obscene phone calls and free-floating masochism, among syndromes yet to be named. “Happiness” which scared off its initial distributor in 1998 opens Friday at IFC in a new 4K resto.

Wonder if Betsy Gottbaum's retirement as CU head had anything to do with the switcheroo.

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... This atrocious attack is an argument for continued gun control. One can only imagine the bloodbath had the perp gotten an automatic weapon. (On another note one can only imagine the lives that might have been saved if the US declined to keep arming Netanyahu.)

Yes, he who lights fires typically loves to be the hero who puts them out. Might we not say that the market presents (or invents) a "new" problem that it then proposes to solve? Advertising, not to mention the Trump regime, if not the entire capitalist system, is predicated on this sleight of hand.

There is no justification for or practical politics to shooting or burning random Zionists in the US. There is also no excuse for being naive enough to think a year + of US support for Israel’s genocide will not, in a violent, race-obsessed country, have predictable blowback

jacobin.com/2025/05/us-c... Doug Henwood's take.

Andy was a Trump lawyer back in the 80s. The day he stands up for congestion pricing (his bill btw) is the day I might even consider the remote possibility he can stand up to the Don. Anyway, he's no shoo-in in a 4-way race & as for efficiency, it's largely predicated on the team. He's just a name.

www.thecity.nyc/2025/06/02/c... This guy is such a turd

All formidable formalists, Bresson, Melville & Tati are the three musketeers of postwar, pre-Nouvelle Vague French cinema, although, paradoxically, it's crowd-pleasing Tati rather than ascetic Bresson or tough guy Melville who may have been the most inner-directed artist.
