Brutally stupid but he sounds like Theodor Adorno compared to how he is now

This is completely pie-in-the-sky but wouldn't it be great if they even went beyond that and said "this is teaching me that I need to think about politics differently"

An abrogation of the most basic responsibilities any adult has toward any child. Just beneath contempt. Assuming it's a policy, I just can't feel any more bleak about it.

I muted the word "surprised" on here because of these kinds of posts (can't very well mute "and" or "you're")

My dad instilled a deep hatred of "polite" drivers in me. "DON'T do me any favors!" he'd holler at them.

Mirroring the breathless reporting on his romantic life in the 80s, a full-circle moment

"Time, place, and manner" are the things that governments can constitutionally regulate about speech. He is suggesting resistance while using the language of restriction. Not what you want.

Agreed - didn't mean to suggest that if only Schumer were to come around, we'd all be brunching. That's not only a vain hope, it's not even a good one. I just notice his and others' complete disassociation from the material efforts & organizing that you rightly focus on.

100% true. Yet Schumer et al constantly and exclusively use words and concepts associated with elections. Schumer in particular seems literally incapable of anything else. Any new party leaders who come along must not only act as you suggest but also speak it into existence.

If you haven't read it this interview with Jerry Casale is worth your time. Casale was present as the Kent State massacre unfolded with Mark Mothersbaugh. Together, they went on to found DEVO. Also with them was Chrissie Hynde, who went on to found The Pretenders. www.kent.edu/art/news/rem...

Also he went to the man's FUNERAL and then clowned on him. That's hateful and disrespectful in any tradition.

Star Wars is such a cliche answer, but what I remember is: I was 6 y/o. We got there early. The door to the theater was leather with studs on the sides, like an old couch. I jumped up to look through the porthole window and saw C3P0's face. Stunned, shocked. Had never seen anything like it.

Awesome! We were told that the Peppies was border collie + German shepherd, but we never quite bought it. She has the smarts for sure but she seemed to us to have improbable speed and a kind of sight-hound-ish body shape (and anxiety disorder lol). When ppl ask us what she is we say "brown"
