ICE agents in tactical gear chase down and tackle a U.S. citizen in L.A. After realizing he’s American, they just slink away. Their only explanation: “Why were you running?” Probably because two masked men with guns were trying to snatch him.

Yes. Stephen Miller literally overrode the Secretary of Agriculture on worksite raids. She convinced Trump to back her, he publicly announced a new policy, and Miller got that entire thing overturned in a matter of days and made Trump publicly back his vision instead.

NEW: Adults fighting kids for clean water, despondent toddlers and a child with swollen feet denied a medical exam - these first-hand accounts from immigrant families are offering a glimpse at conditions in TX detention centers. according to court filing. apnews.com/article/migr...

Rümeysa Öztürk wrote an op-ed critical of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. She was arrested by ICE and was in detention for six weeks. This white nationalist student wrote a paper that argued the Constitution applies only to white people. He won an award.

I know I sound naive, but it still astounds me that we have a Supreme Court filled with people who do not believe in basic human rights and have no fealty to facts, science, or justice.

SAY IT PLAIN: Federal “ICE officers” should not be anonymous. And this shouldn’t be a controversial thing to say.

a sitting federal judge — appointed by trump of course — awarded a student for a paper that basically says dred scott was right and should have gone further

Mystal: It all goes back to Dobbs. It tells everyone on that side that they’re open for business to take away, to smash, every civil right they don’t like. We’re living in the post-Dobbs era.. it’s going to take some time before the country has a moment of clarity about what’s really happened here.

Job Garcia’s kidnapping by the Trump administration is the top story on the LA Times website right now. www.latimes.com/california/s...

These are the three Roman Catholic bishops of San Diego. I was glad to join them and other faith leaders at immigration court today to offer compassion and presence.

Yesterday I was a Dodger fan for a day. Make that two days.

Michael Pham fled Vietnam at the age of 13. He was named bishop of San Diego a month ago. Today, he stood watch at a courthouse: ICE agents were “standing there covered with masks as we walked toward the courtroom. Eventually the agents scattered and went away” timesofsandiego.com/life/2025/06...

JENA, La. (AP) — Columbia University activist Mahmoud Khalil has been released from an immigration jail after 104 days in custody.

Oh man. That's disqualifying. Will Senate Democrats try to block the nomination?

YOU WANNA SEE A DEAD BODY??? *This* is the NOW INFAMOUS "Footnote 12" that Jackson wrote. It basically tells Neil Gorsuch: "Fuck you as a staff, label, and motherfucking crew."

Justice Jackson taking on Gorsuch's "pure textualism" and arguing for a more holistic reading of Congress' handiwork—worth reading in full. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

Bishop Seitz: “We remain resolute in our call for protection of refugees amid their disparate treatment by our government.” Pope Leo has said: “Where there is love, there is no room for prejudice, for ‘security’ zones, for the exclusionary mindset that is emerging in political nationalisms.”

A Virginia guy hunted a Latino man, cornered him, questioned him, and then shot him and his friend, because he assumed the guy was an undocumented immigrant. He was radicalized by Fox News etc. and, of course, Trump. www.wric.com/news/local-n...

I am sharing this rant that the great @heatherthomasaf.bsky.social posted elsewhere, as it should be read far and wide:

If you knew Mike (well first you’d be laughing because he was just so funny) you’d know he would be so pissed at these cuts to scientific research and the peddling of magic & mysticism to good people yearning for control. I hope he knows his story continues to matter: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/20/o...

Every time I post about ICE tactics, I get replies, “This is what I voted for.” Really? You voted for a mother crying for mercy while her child is still in school—about to come out and find her missing? There isn’t another way to go about this that preserves our humanity?

Out of 84 people rounded up, only 2 had criminal records, in case you’re still too dumb to see what’s really going on. abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory...

Maybe this is because I’m Jewish and did a seder a couple of months ago, but the idea that the end of institutionalized slavery is not a good reason for a holiday just doesn’t compute. It’s easily one of the best reasons for celebration.

As someone who worked for a few years in the Washington Post Metro section, I’m shocked by this decision. In effect, it leaves a major American city (and a huge metropolitan area) without a hometown newspaper.

If you are interested in what happened today at Dodger Stadium, or in baseball in general, @mollyknight.bsky.social is the person to follow. (Says this old ink-stained etc.)

Here’s the statement from Kasten:

Dodger fan for a day.

What were they actually gonna do here? Ask every brown-enough person for their papers to go to the fucking baseball game? This is the most slam-dunk, anti-American thing I can think of. You need a passport to go to a Major League Baseball game now? Malpractice not to make a huge deal out of this.

I'm not a New Yorker, so I don't get a vote, but I think being a serial sexual harasser should be disqualifying from public office--even if the other plausible candidate is a little further away from you on the political spectrum.

This is a jaw-dropping lie. Check my feed for videos of ICE at Dodger Stadium trying to get into the parking lot and being blocked by the LAPD.

When Dobbs came down, the media rightly saw it as the culmination of a decades long effort to eliminate abortion rights by the conservative legal movement. When Skrmetti came down, the media blamed trans people and not that same conservative legal machine. It's the same court and lawyers.

Can confirm, as @ByJackHarris reported, that ICE agents attempted to access Dodger Stadium this morning but were denied by the Dodgers. Images had circulated this morning of agents appearing to use the parking lots as a staging area.

This little @brianstelter.bsky.social item bears on a pattern I see in my everyday reading Trump's doubters criticize the way The Media collaborates with him, even at this late date. What journalists hear is: "Wait, you want even more negative coverage?" Try: Not more negative. Less predictable.

Sure, sideline Hegseth and Gabbard—but it's worth noting the so-called expert “Tier One” team advising on Iran is *itself* the LEAST qualified & most inexperienced national security team of any modern presidency: VP JD Vance, Joint Chiefs Chair Dan Caine, SecState Rubio, and CIADIR John Ratcliffe!

America runs on revenue. Republicans broke the budget with reckless tax cuts and dare to call themselves “fiscal hawks”? My generation is left with a government that can’t pay its bills—risking a global financial collapse. This is a controlled demolition of the American order.

These people aren’t afraid Mamdani would be a bad mayor. We have a ridiculous, corrupt, incompetent mayor right now and the city is hanging in OK. They’re declaring all-out war because they’re afraid Mamdani (or Lander) might be a good mayor.

I am sorry that the Twins and Reds are getting rained on, but I do enjoy watching a tarp get rolled out in a hurry.

It's probably hard for people who didn't grow up in the 80s and 90s to appreciate what a true miracle this is. Unreal.

In case women needed another reminder that they are not safe from the agents of the state in this country …

If anyone could have ended the enslavement of Black people without bloodshed, obviously it would have been Donald Trump, who has worked ceaselessly on behalf of people of color throughout his public life. Seriously though, how do you distinguish mental decline from baseline ignorance?

BREAKING @prri.org poll. My disturbing take: It’s virtually impossible to write a survey question about the treatment of immigrants that is too brutal for Republicans to support. 1) 8 in 10 Republicans support renditions of immigrants to foreign prisons without due process. prri.org/spotlight/ne...
