Hey! It’s not too late to show up and learn what this bill will do to the people of Weld County. The panel has some smart folks! @greeleyweldindiv.bsky.social

now is a time where you'd best put aside your own feelings of frustration and despair about failing to make a mark at whatever chosen career path and try to build your own thing. there are little to no gatekeepers who care at this point, there's no institutional scaffolding. be free

I can only get through a long, taxing week like this sober. There is no other way for me. I am so grateful knowing that, 15 years ago today, I found this path. And that so many people have been with me — before and since — to help me find that path and stay on it. Here’s to today.

Administration officials continue to push the boundaries of the law in trying to enforce the president’s immigration policy—but they’re still struggling to meet expectations, David A. Graham writes in The Atlantic Daily.

what even is this? this lives in my house?

at what point are people going to stop the delusional mindset that the extremely wealthy are ever going to do anything positive for society as long as we're sooo nice and don't make them pay taxes

I just did the math, and yes, this checks out.

1/ If Justice Barrett thinks we need to go back to what the Founding Fathers intended, I’ve got news for her. Their biggest concern was avoiding tyranny. So they created 3 branches of gov’t & divvied up the power the people (that’s us) were allowing the gov’t to use to create order for all of us.

Yeah same. Seems very different from the days when Ginsburg and Scalia would disagree on the bench, but then go to the opera together.

As I spend my morning reading opinion after opinion I wish I’d been able to read yesterday, I’m reminded what a disservice it is to all of us for SCOTUS to operate this way. So many rulings so quickly makes it impossible for any of us to adequately understand them.

The Supreme Court decision in the birthright citizenship case will not deter us from making sure people and communities have the resources they need to defend their rights in court. CEO @skyeperryman.bsky.social joined @theweekendmsnbc.bsky.social this morning to make that clear.

As big as the Mamdani win is, Landers ascent is in some ways even more significant for the national Democratic Party. Most Dem electeds know that they don't have what Zohran has. But most can at least imagine themselves as a Lander.

!!!

It’s probably not great to wake up this pissed off. Then I think of how pissed off Justice Jackson must be.

Freedom for me but not for thee... 🤷🏻‍♀️

yes, no, hell yeah

Nobel economist Paul Krugman says Trump’s bombing of Iran’s nuclear sites was a desperate show of false strength, likening it to the War on Terror—heavy on theatrics, light on strategy, and aimed at misleading the public. www.rawstory.com/trump-267244...

This is not about "left" vs "right" anymore — and it hasn't been for a long time. The oligarchy feels safer if people split along the old “left” vs.“right” battle lines, so they won’t notice they’re being shafted and won't join together to fight back.

Ok, so I was informed that the evaluation committee recommended I be promoted to Full Professor.

Great conversation covering the many ways Trump & family are profiting from the Presidency and using opaque financial instruments to do so. @hcrichardson.bsky.social @zacheverson.com

This country is thoroughly screwed for at least a generation. People haven't taken stock of how much damage has already been done. 2026 and 2028 won't magically fix this. It's going to be a long walk.

I spoke in Story County, Iowa tonight and I know it went well me because as I left, they gave me the Midwestern I love you: “Watch out for deer! “

Remarkably strong correlation between pundits who told me the Supreme Court upholding Texas’s abortion bounty hunter law was technical and not a sign it would overturn Roe, and pundits assuring me birthright citizenship is fine because people can “just file a class action” or whatever

We will never beat fascism if we show no intention of governing in spite of it or after it

Thank you @bradlander.bsky.social for an upbeat post. First one I have seen in a half hour, maybe even an hour. Clearly a sign that it’s time to decamp for the evening on a reasonably positive note.

Each Supreme Court ruling will bring the people closer to embracing expanding the Court and reforming it. Roberts and Republicans have destroyed the Court's reputation and integrity beyond repair.

Zohran Mamdani’s victory is in part a rejection of Andrew Cuomo, who resigned as New York’s governor in disgrace. But it also represents something bigger: it is a rejection of Democratic centrism and politics as usual https://econ.trib.al/dUFBkGT

No refuge for the persecuted.

On Friday morning, the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative majority took a slice out of the framers’ conception of the separation of powers. Read about the decision, which came in the birthright citizenship case at Law Dork:

No disrespect to Mr Dylan, but my favorite Dylan tunes are when Jerry is singing & playing 'em. ✌️❤️🎶 Another beauty from '77!

We’re lighting the I-35W bridge green tonight and tomorrow in honor of Melissa Hortman, who found joy and peace in trees and gardens 🌳

I'm just now realizing that when I was a graduate student at Columbia, I did attend a lecture on Africa and development-- given by Mahmood Mamdani-- Zohran Mamdani's father. anthropology.columbia.edu/content/mahm...
