Apologies if my point wasn’t clear. Even with diligent screening some early cancers evade detection, or are so aggressive they develop and metastasize in the interval between screenings.
Way too early to speculate prognosis.

Medical (yes medical) doctor here. My father, who marinated in Agent Orange when he was in Vietnam, had a normal PSA in March 2019. Aggressive prostate cancer killed him by the end of the year. It happens.

This☝️!! Some of our best and brightest are couch surfing, sleeping in a car/library/call room, hoping for a noon conference or attending invitation. You may never know how your small act of kindness could change things for them.

Done! Thanks so much for this. It’s an unfortunate but necessary step for those of us providing gender-affirming care in red states. This made it so much easier. Will pass this along to my colleagues and students. 🙏

One of my favorite medical histories! Dr Gillies and his team were true heroes on so many levels. Thank you for bringing their incredible story to light.

PCP here. Mine tend to be variations on a theme of losing a patient in the ER. Literally, I can’t find them. 🤷♀️

I remember regular servings of this steaming plate of BS at noon conferences.

Such a compelling book! Also, Dreamland by Sam Quinones is an excellent accounting of what happened. It will break your heart, but it’s a great read for rural/underserved practitioners still navigating the consequences.
