I was not in Kalerwe

The raccoons are back with only two younguns this year. Unfortunately, they moved in under our deck. We had to have the wildlife expert in to create a trap door so they exited and we are hopeful they will find a new home. #raccoons #raccoonsTO

AI produces dull, convoluted and repetitive jargon. It seems totally sentence based. People who use it apparently don't know how to review, analyze, or parse their own writing. As an editor, I find it almost as insulting as being asked to work with materials processed through Google translate.

Public service unions question Carney government’s plans for ‘AI’ and hiring caps on federal workforce PSAC president says prime minister needs to ‘actually consult with the unions and the frontline workers who deliver the services’

At the @steelworkers.bsky.social in Toronto to remember the Hogs Hollow disaster of 1960. #hogshollow #steelworkers

Finally remembered where I’d heard new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal tagline “Canada Strong”. It’s the name of a company that sells respirator masks. canadastrong.ca #canpoli #canadastrong

I’m not sure why CBC journalists and commentators don’t talk about the candidates and constituencies rather than the illusory “wins” and “losses” -

Mark Carney won his seat; if projections are correct and he becomes prime minister, he will be the first PM to hold a seat in Ottawa since Sir John A. MacDonald, according to CBC

Not sure why CBC has two sets of election results—one on TV and another on the website. Totally confusing coverage with prognostications on ridings barely closed #canpoli

As international aid budgets face cuts in the UK, US & Europe, IRC President & CEO David Miliband will join @samirpuri.bsky.social at @chathamhouse.org to discuss how to make aid impactful in a changed landscape. Members can join from 12.30pm on Tue 29 April: www.chathamhouse.org/events/all/m...

In Nov 1965, @NDP.ca led by Tommy Douglas took 17.9 per cent of the popular vote, and 21 seats (a gain of 4 from 1963) in the election, which was won by the @Liberalca.bsky.social’s Lester Pearson. In this picture from @TheGlobeandMail.com by the late Boris Spremo, Douglas leads a rally.

I voted!! Together we can create a Canada that works for everyone – a home you can afford, better health care services, and a bright future for our communities. If you believe in this Canada, there’s still time to vote with us today. Go to howyouvote.ca for more details.

A story I wrote in 2019 about an initiative inspired by words of Pope Francis on the impact of human activities on the environment, climate and rainforests in a major document entitled Laudato Si’ (Praise Be) in 2015. #popefrancis thinklandscape.globallandscapesforum.org/32163/religi...

Jack Layton inspired so many people across the country – he always believed that with love, hope, and optimism, we can do better. Our campaign holds these same beliefs. The belief that together, we can fight to protect what makes Canada, Canada. Where working people come first, not corporations.
