We had to take elective courses in science. I guess they were considered Mickey Mouse to real science brainiacs -- intro level courses in sociology, anthropology, biology, as I recall it. You couldn't graduate from without one of theses courses. I took anthropology.

I blame the universities for a lot of the dependency on these tools in my field. They are graduating people who may have science skills of some sort, but lack the capacity to think critically or write. They don't even realize how bad the work they produce is...
