Vinyl collector - especially 7” singles, meditator, member of Triratna Buddhist Order. Seem to have developed a thing for vintage paperbacks. Low woo threshold, likes an evidence base.

I don’t think I’ve read any Simenon before. I love how he just adds weird random facts about people. “The detective stood by the door. His wife refused to eat cheese.”* Reminds me of Braughtigan or Vonnegut. *not actually a quotation.

Semi-snap - I couldn’t resist a couple of Simenon and some Conrad.

Having watched the series, I’ve just listened to the first book. It’s one of the rare occasions when I thought the tv series was an improvement on the source material. But the characterisation is quite different, and if you’re steeped in the books it might not work for you.

I suspect you might be in quite the minority with this one.

I’ve had rather too much wine for a Monday evening & I’m not cognitively structured in a way that supports me being a good philosopher, but surely the fact that rationality can only be falsified by an irrational critique doesn’t seem to provide a sufficiently strong argument to negate its validity.

I thought he was allowed coloured pencils nowadays, as long as he’s supervised

Loved Xevious! Played it a lot in first year at Uni - only one machine in the whole of Liverpool as far as I knew.

These are the Sell or Store 7” boxes so far (plus 3 upstairs). 30 boxes still to be triaged. 😑

Oh, of course! I’d forgotten all about that!

Like the look of those Voodoo Rhythm releases - are they Medway beat kind of things?

Thanks. You wait decades for a Prag Vec single, then two come along at once.

Im the same with Japanese 7”s - such pleasing things that I’ve bought several that will very rarely visit a turntable.

Pleased to see you credit Clive (who once gave me a kiss!) - it must be a bit weird for him that the vast majority of folk attribute his best known piece of music to other people.

I’ve started listening to the book. It’s not as good. 😔
