At this point, they have even stopped calling it Christmas Vespers. Now it is just Vespers and often includes non-Scriptural readings, although much of it is still centered on Christmas, which many people observe more in a cultural than religious mode these days.

Well we're where the models say we should be. Which is bad enough. The models indicate that warming stops when emissions reach zero. So we've got to get off fossil fuels as quickly as possible. In that sense, it's very simple!

For a while, I think there were no regularly scheduled services at chapel. Now, some have started to come back. It's also strange for me as an organist that there is no longer a college organist on campus. I'm sad about that, too.

It was also tied to the contraction of religious services at the chapel. Alpha, Omega, and College Choir, over the course of the academic year, each sang four Ecumenical Christian Church services, one Catholic mass, and one Jewish Sabbath Eve service, plus Christmas Vespers.

It's very sad for us older alums to see the Smith choral program exists as a shadow of its former self. Maybe, someday, it will grow again...
