The judges of the Federal Constitutional Court are elected by the Bundestag (lower house of parliament) and the Bundesrat (upper house representing the states). Each house elects half of the judges, with a two-thirds majority required for election. Not like in the US. Where Potus and senat decide.

It started with Reagan when he deregulated the financial market. Europe soon followed. They told us! Wealth will trickle down. It trickled up faster. Then they told us globalisation is good for all of us. It wasn't, jobs in production was lost faster than new jobs could be created.

There is much to criticize in the EU. I am not happy with much that goes on in that expensive burocratic monster. However, leaving a common market was and still is a bad move. I hope UK finds its way back eventually and then helps reform the EU which it needs.
