What happened to this woman is morally reprehensible. There is no way to spin these actions that doesn’t indicate an utter lack of empathy from those who agree with the inhuman conditions she endured. And, the cruelty will eat away at any humanity that those in a position to help her may have had.

It says volumes about a person in a position of power who can look straight at the news camera and lie. It tells me they have everything to gain from the lie, and equal amounts, or more, to lose.

Medicaid is a "silent lifeline" is a really powerful description of its role in the safety net for millions of people. It's not silent for those who rely on it, but for many Americans, Medicaid is an abstract concept, something for "other" people.
