If we had occupied the South after the war, criminalized ALL Confederate imagery like Germany did to the Nazis and hanged Davis, Lee and all the other traitors, we'd probably be living in the Star Trek future by now.

I decided to leave the office early and skip lunch so that I could at least get my lawn mowed before the potential rain this afternoon. At the halfway point, I started to feel drops on my arm and, at that exact moment, ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky" began to play in my earbuds. Nice one, Universe. Dick.

You've hit the nail on the head as to why I won't even start watching episodic TV these days. If the wait was just a few months between seasons like in ye olden tymes, I could get on board. Knowing I'll be waiting for YEARS to see a storyline settled is asking a bit too much from me.

The fact that more Democrats aren't fighting tooth-and-nail as they should says maybe their side isn't completely fascist-free as well. Republicans obstructed almost literally everything Obama did when he was in office. It's time the Dems starting showing at least that much conviction.

I'm currently trapped in the middle of a vicious circle with mine as it keeps raining on the only days I have time to mow. It's week two for my house and week four for another place I take care of. I'm starting to feel like Wayne Szalinski's kids trying to escape their yard just taking my dog out.

I HATE the kind of person the Republicans have turned me into over the past few years.

Between Trump and his Nazi supporters and Weinstein here, the gravitas of the American flag has been ruined. These colors may not run, but I certainly do if I see someone approaching me while wearing them. You have no idea what they might do to you.

I don't mind the looks, but getting them to stick to my ceiling was a nightmare. Despite trying several different types of double-sided tape, the 1st panel would already have dropped before I got to the 5th. Eventually I was like, "Fuck it. Stapler gun it is." Let future me worry about the holes.

Archie panels out of context are always welcome. One of my favorites has always been this one. Not necessarily due to the dialogue, but just the horrible idea that perhaps Jughead's parents are related by more than marriage.

One unexpected ramification of these past few years is for the first time in my life, I'm feeling sympathy toward the German citizens who lived under Hitler. I used to be all, "Fuck 'em. They let him take over. It's on them." Now I'm like, "Oh. So THIS is what it feels like. Well, shit."

There's no "may" about it. Hell, we're still dealing with Reagan's bullshit four decades later.

After Russia was allowed to wage war against a denuclearized Ukraine, no country in the world should stop developing nukes. Unfortunately, it seems that's the only practical way to avoid invasion.

To be fair, rich foreigners will likely never run the risk of ICE interactions, and those are the only ones Trump and his Nazis want to see coming over here. Well, the WHITE rich ones, at any rate...

Simmer down, Don Martin...

If the Geneva Conventions require soldiers to wear uniforms if they want to be protected as POWs, how in the hemorrhaging fuck are these non-uniformed, masked, anonymous ICE-holes able to walk safely down the street kidnapping people?
comment in response to post
I'm not interacting with quite as many people as I did on Twitter, and some mutuals never made the jump (which sucks), but all-in-all Bluesky has proven to be a much better experience and just as fulfilling. Plus, you know, I'm not scraping the bottom of my shoes to get the Nazi off as much lately.

Are you fucking KIDDING me? All Dems have done for DECADES is try to appeal to the middle and right-leaning, all while ignoring their loyal base. Meanwhile, Republicans do nothing but pander to the troglodytes and keep winning elections. Sit the fuck down.

I mostly read manga so they looked correct to me.

53 here, and I don't trust people my age anymore to be looking out for my best interests.

Gosh, maybe if the Democrats actually put up a fight where it matters, in Congress and the Courts, Martin wouldn't be having these issues. Voting "yes" on ANY Trump appointees or ANY Republican legislation is treason at this point. Put AOC in the DNC chair, you cowards!
comment in response to post
You know, at THIS point, I'm just A-OK with equating anyone to the right of Liberals as Nazis. There's only room for subtlety and nuance when one side isn't trying to burn the country to the ground. History has shown that when fascists are treated with kid gloves, they just come back later.

I mean, technically speaking, the space in front of a green screen is a "location". And yes, I do think "zero" counts as a number as well.

Yeah, dude completely fell for it. He can't hide from the truth.

That was absolutely brilliant. But it was also an important life lesson that not all Millennials know Scooby-Doo.

Sounds like a win to me.

If 28% of the country still self-identifies as Republican, they're the hard-core who will always put party over country. If Trump lost 13% of those, that's saying something.

I'd rather it be a Twilight Zone episode instead, and that bratty boy just ends up in Hell.

I'm in one of those Red States and I support this completely. I mean, the Republican/Nazis in control of mine are doing everything they can not to support their citizens, so what's the difference if we lose our Federal funding anyway?

All I see is "barf-lees".

I'm old enough now to realize I don't trust most people my age to make decisions.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and spent a quiet Saturday making my own board game, and every other square was a "Go to Jail". I suppose it was healthier than the literal torture chambers I used to make out of shoeboxes for my Star Wars action figures. I should probably be on a list somewhere.

I'd bust out a clip from 'War of the Gargantuas', but I don't want to run the risk of having "The Words Get Stuck in My Throat" stuck in my head.

Jack Cole likely based his character Plastic Man on a cat he once owned.

Awesome! Time to bust out the cheddar and wash it down with malort!
comment in response to post
This happened to me with a new cat. My older set of kitchen cabinets had an open space under the doors and my cat had crawled inside and was hiding between the bottom of the cabinets and the floor. Once she got out, I used cardboard to fashion a makeshift barrier so she wouldn't do that again.

As a Marvel guy, I was like, "Why in the hell is Spider-Man's name on the bottom?" Then I realized, setting aside contractual reasons, their logos don't work with any other placement. It'd be weird to see Spider-Man's arcing up logo at the top of the page and Superman's arcing down underneath.

Braun is setting the stage to get hired as IU's president after his guaranteed eight years as governor are up. It's what Mitch Daniels did with Purdue. Indiana Nazis are easy to predict.

Yes, because treating these people with respect and decorum has been working SWIMMINGLY so far. Sorry, but fuck them all. Fuck. Them. All. They unapologetically spit in the face of sane people and wholeheartedly voted for the worst our country can exude. Fuck. Them. All. No appeasement.
