Gavin Newsome "...they want a spectacle.
Don't give them one.
Never use violence. Speak out peacefully."
Like he non-violently ripped up unhoused people's belongings. All peacefully said they shouldn't exist.
*wanking motions to all that shit*

Tom may be a runner up for winner in the white moderate demotivation post category for the night.

Oh yeah this is going to get absolutely unhinged in my responses tonight I can tell. The conspiracy theories and claims I am a Russian agent are starting.

This is just straight up telling people to stop protesting and go inside and act civil so the fascists are nice.
Really interesting to know how many of these are tied to the resist and blue anon circles.

Mass nonviolence of the kind we have seen in the past really does not apply to a fully formed militarized and radicalized ideological fascist enemy and frankly people are going to need to embrace a diversity of tactics.

An interesting one directly saying to hold out and peacefully protest next week at a sanctioned event.
Also a tie to the martial law claims etc.

Let’s take a look at some examples from larger accounts that i have now seen.

Peace police or mass non violence etc are not your friends in the face of a full force fascist movement in militarized action phase

We’ve seen a whole bunch of demotivation and fear posting some that is just straight up Doomer posting and a whole lot of fed posting, but I would expect we start to see people telling others to remain peaceful at all costs and other nonviolence tactics while decrying property damage as bad.

They are literally just doing the plot of Andor. (Which yes I know is based on life, I’m not that dumb).

And remember: THE MOST DANGEROUS THING at protests / marches is not cops, it's not tear gas, it's not impact munitions.
It's cars. Cars kill. You're playing in traffic, blocking traffic, walking on streets.
Even when you think the cops have blocked a direction of traffic, don't EVER assume that.

And if you're at a protest and things start to get too scary, listen to your own gut.
Don't do things just because some stranger or some "leader" with a megaphone gives an order.
You feel sketched out? Don't do it. Don't march into that tunnel. Don't kneel in front of cops. Just bug out.

In other words, just grab a couple cheap protective items, find a protest buddy, look like a normy, and show up.
Most of the time you'll be able to see where the action is, and you can choose how close to the line of fire you want to get.
You'll know where to stand based on your risk tolerance.

Don't let all the advanced protest advice threads intimidate you into not showing up.
You don't need to be an expert. It's OK to bring your phone most of the time (biometrics off).
You don't need saline for eye rinses. No milk. Bottled water is fine, and lots of it. Quantity matters more than pH.

If you wear corrective lenses, you have to put some more thought into things because contact lenses and tear gas are a bad combo.
Depending on how poor your vision is, go without, or get some shatter resistant eyeglasses (they make them for shooters) or goggles with correction built in (but $$$).

It's natural to be nervous about going to a protest and there's a natural tendency to want to gear up and bring every possible item you might need.
Leave that IFAK at home unless you've practiced opening it, digging out the chest seal, and applying it in under 60 seconds under pressure.

If you're going to add more protest gear to your kit, make sure you PRACTICE with your loadout.
Nothing worse than being under pressure and your goggles get fogged up and you try to take them off but your goggle straps get stuck in your balaclava and then tangled with your helmet straps.

Keep your protest PPE and gear simple. And keep it SUPER generic looking.
I know too many people who got enamored with their badass-looking tactical gear and morale patches, then they got identified and raided and put in prison because they were too recognizable from one event to the next.

I've gone to protests in "tank mode" with full protection. I've also showed up with no protection.
Wearing too much gear sucks. It limits your mobility, limits your visibility and situational awareness.
Protect your dome and your private parts. Impact munitions hurt but you get used to them.

Don't waste your money on fancy tactical gear for protests.
Leave the kevlar helmet, plate carrier, MOLLE rig, and ceramics at home unless you're in a jurisdiction where fash tend to shoot people.
Better to be mobile and blend in. Plus, cops love to confiscate expensive gear.

You can invest more in protest safety gear but, as someone who's been to probably hundreds of these things, no need to overdo it.
A dirtbike jacket with a chest protector if you want, but hide it under a jacket.
If you look too "tactical" you get singled out for target practice and arrest.

A cheap leather jacket is "good enough" protection for your torso from most munitions.
The only other *must have* protection from impact munitions (and this one surprised people) : WEAR BOOTS, not sneakers.
Munitions skip along the ground I've seen people's toes literally explode in sneakers.

A bike or skateboard helmet provides "good enough" protection from impact munitions. Not perfect, but they're cheap and lightweight.
WEAR A CUP to protect your private parts. I *never* go to protests without a cup. Cops target your groin more than any other body part.
