I come back to the intent of a fine levied by the state as an act of deterrence against future activities.
This seems like the usual large business negotiate out a minimal payment.

Changing the expectations of men in contributing to families in a more equitable way (hello Scandinavian policies) would be the way to approach this.
Tax breaks for family trust arrangements channeling income on the other hand is bread + butter for them.

Worth noting it was published in Australian Spectator too. To which.

I *feel* like perhaps CDR needs more teeth … rather than allowing a "shake-down" style approach … something more in line with fines generally levied for illegal behaviour …

When the GOP use the term "deficit" they are only talking about the _spending_ side of the budget.
Spending ⬇️ == Deficit ⬇️ (in their view)
They ignore the _revenue_ side of the balance sheet,
and the 100% obvious fact that spending-revenue is going up!!!

Respect is earned. Lee has a lot of earning before it should be shown with the garbage he has been publishing, making excuses for the assassin - and those who would copy those actions.

Clearer version: If you think a Democrat could get away with anything Trump has I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

This is an operating model of US right wing politicians for the last couple of decades, if not longer.
Think the use of gun sights on opponents, the talking points etc. Trump and MAGA are the latest wave, but they hold the executive, the legislative, and large sway over the judicial.

There were a lot of morons who bought Trump’s lies that he’d end all the wars.
Of course there were lot of members of traditional media who platformed those lies without any context.

The account balance is only an estimate of what $ value would be realised if the assets were sold at market. But I don’t see why this is a deal breaker for a wealth tax as (for example) banks are happy to use this estimate as collateral.
