And thanks to a generation of reactionary centrists, feckless Dems, autocratic GOPers, and a TV culture of non-stop crime shows and bleeds-it-leads news, we spent TWENTY-FIVE YEARS of declining and low crime rates building out that police-state style police system at EVERY level of government.

"It's really hard to fathom that the guy making my pizza for 25 years is a gangster and a terrorist, and the person who shows up in an unmarked car wearing a mask and body armor comes to take him away is somehow the good guy” www.wnep.com/article/news...

I seem to be of the minority opinion that it's bad for our historical understanding when people use "blood libel" to mean "well-documented exposé reporting on actions committed by the Israeli military."

Come make me, Temu Heinrich Müller

“The US gov’t intentionally fueled UFO rumors to distract the public from their actual secret weapons & stealth aircraft projects” isn’t exactly a novel idea, but it is nice to see confirmation of what has always been obvious to anyone with a shred of critical thinking

this is true in the sense that anyone who goes into something as complex as a prestige TV series saying "I want to make left wing (or right wing) art" is going to make something that sucks 9 times out of 10 people with political views can make great art, but the focus has to be on the art.

complaining about Black Lives Matter in a speech to the Republican Attorneys General Association should be the end of whatever remaining liberal cred the ADL had

to quote @katmabu.bsky.social: "I won't take money from the guy who does a Hitler salute. It's really that simple."

It’s legitimate cause for a tax strike. Money from California is going all over the country to help support states that, through hundreds of years of mismanagement, haven’t managed to lift half their populations out of poverty. And they get spit on for it.

So... according to Greenblatt, Elon doing the Nazi salute wasn't so bad. But students protesting... What a fucking disaster the ADL is. What a joke.

Amazing.

The University of Michigan spent $800,000 hiring private investigators--one of whom FAKED A DISABILITY--to surveil anti-genocide protesting students. I'm speechless. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

BREAKING The President of California’s largest union has been detained during an ICE raid.

Or at least the sticky-futoned creeps, waifu-pillowed shut-ins, unemployed tiki marchers, restraining order collectors, and incel reply-guys who make up Twitter these days have spoken.

My first thought upon hearing that a grand jury had indicted Kilmar Abrego Garcia was that old saying that a prosecutor could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. Now, the chief of the prosecutor’s office behind the indictment has just resigned, seemingly in protest.

Right-wing class discourse is happening

Abrego Garcia being returned to the USA not 24 hrs after matty y went to the mattyresses to argue it was a classic example of a lost cause is the perfect distillation of the value of matty y as a political observer

I fixed it for the NYT. “Dom Lucre makes 5-figures spreading emotionally-activating lies that cause great personal harm while advancing the anti-institutional, fascistic politics today’s oligarchs cynically use to eviscerate institutions like the NYT as well as middle class people like him.”

I honestly don’t know how any party that accepts this — and not saying the dems have — can ever again be competitive enough to overcome gerrymandering and voter inertia. The man did a Nazi salute. What are we doing here??

🚨NEW: @cbsnews.com reports ICE is arresting people who can't even legally be deported and holding them without enough food or water in a federal building BASEMENT in Los Angeles. Families dutifully attending check-ins with ICE are being arrested and held for days, forced to sleep on the floor.

Kristi Noem less than a month ago: "There is no scenario where Abrego Garcia will be in the United States again." (No matter what happens, bringing him back to the US is a climbdown for the administration)

This isn't actually funny at all; it's a window into Trump's worldview, because he absolutely expected any German official to be upset over the Nazis losing. Because if Trump were German, he would be. Because things like "they were fucking Nazis" are way less important to him than "on my team"

We don’t need to back off the American Gestapo and we don’t need to respect its agents. People exercising state violence are not entitled to anonymity. Nor are the people directing the state violence.

mike johnson genuinely in the running for worst reactionary to come out of louisiana (his competition includes david duke)

SCOTUS doing a SCOTUS again (skullfucking the law to give Musk’s frat bros access to everyone’s private data for absolutely no valid reason)

Uh. This seems like it should be a big deal and mentioned alongside any (every!) mention of this book... This is almost as bad as the "death recorded" fiasco.

Illinois Congresswoman and notorious bigot Mary Miller posted an Islamophobic tweet this morning, realized she had made a mistake, and then posted an anti-Sikh tweet. She has since deleted the anti-Sikh tweet.

I think whoever brought these charges should be fired (into the sun).

In 1936, FDR closed out his re-election campaign by bragging to a massive crowd at Madison Square Garden that “organized money” hated him “and I welcome their hatred.” He took 60% of the vote in a 523-8 electoral college landslide. FDR knew having the right enemies could be a useful thing.

If only the New York Times had made this big of a deal in December 2022 when Trump called for “termination” of the Constitution. (That ran on Page 13. Yes, Page 13.)

This seems like a great day to remind Bluesky that Stephen Miller lived four doors down from me freshman year And our student council person asked him (and everyone) to sign a birthday card for our dorm’s janitor And he threw a tantrum and wrote an op-ed about not socializing with “the help.”

note that this completely inverts the public justification for the deportation scheme. they claim they’re deporting criminals, but they deported Kilmar without knowledge of a crime, and now that they supposedly found one they’re bringing him BACK.
