And thatās a strawman argument. Sheās asking for labels to use some of the money they make from successful artists to invest in younger artists so they have a better chance of making it later in their career.

Iād argue that calling out Chappell for using their platform in an industry heās not a part of is more performative than anything she did.

This is a slippery slope argument that detracts from the issue sheās raising awareness toward.

And yet, how many VPs and Executives salaries will be paid out of the money she creates for the label? I understand the world doesnāt owe most artists shit, but I do think Chappellās label owes her 30 seconds of āvirtue signaling.ā

Except women werenāt around in programming jobs as kids. And once they were, they were exposed to massive amounts of sexual harassment from mediocre men. Online gaming is a cess pool of intolerance thatās been continuing to normalize hate speech for generations. Calling it out is the first step.

Heās not saying video games cause extreme racism/misogyny, heās saying they normalize them. Spend 20 minutes on call of duty and youāll hear some of thr most extreme language there is. Try not to be so willfully daft.

Youāre likely right, but thereās always the off-chance heās never heard of that concept. As someone whoās worked in education for a decade, Iām wired to give the benefit of the doubt.
