I grew up under apartheid and I supported apartheid. The one thing I could never lie to myself about was that if I was born black I would have been an ANC cadre. (The terrorists at the time). Any honest person will admit that if they were born in Palestine they would be supporters of Hamas. 1/

It is too late to get good people into journalism and the government. I hate to quote old Chinese proverbs but the fish rots from the head. A lesson we learnt way to late in South Africa is that you can't rely on institutions (and that includes the media) to save civil society. 1/
