That slate article was unreadable. It was just waffle for at least the first 25%, I skim read the next 25% then decided there wasn't going to be anything in there of substance.

The bridge through the trees looks idyllic. Looks like a beautiful part of the world

I dont see the point in posting "news" in this form. Unless you can source the info, then it's just hearsay. I wish people (on all social media) would stop doing it. Then, the lies that aren't sourced would be more obvious. I still work from the principle that if it's unsourced, it's untrue.

In case anyone was in any doubt, it's a fake sign... the bird silhouette is identical to the one on top. Pointing it out is a form of resistence 😄

Well, it's really us who should be thanking you! I must admit there are still a number of your blog posts I want to read but haven't yet. But when I get the chance, it's always an informative and fascinating read!

These started appearing across the uk about 15 years ago. Now its rare for me to walk through a wood without seeing one. Part of me wonders if they are encouraged as wildlife habitats, similar to log piles...

It is a huge accomplishment! I've only just found you, and you are inspiring. Slow travelling must be so rewarding, passing through the country and really seeing it!

Just looked here... www.uktaxcalculators.co.uk/world/tax/co... The effective tax rate is approximately double. Not saying this is a bad thing (just a different system)- but it does explain where the money comes from.

It still doesn't fit into my head. If I work for 45 years, and expect 25 years of retirement, then to get 90% of my wage as a pension surely I must have been paying roughly 45% of my wage into that pension pot? Which is more than double what I currently pay. That's what I don't understand.
comment in response to post
Can anyone explain how the pension rate can be 90% of the average wage? Im genuinely confused... where does the money come from?

Fascinating read, and so shocking how she was treated. One would hope that today it would be different, but apart from greater incredulity I fear not enough different.

Thanks for the repost @tomurwin.bsky.social . Acorns is a very special charity who do amazing work. Spreading the word is important to ensure they are there when families need them.
