Glad to read the “X” part of this has nothing to do with the Other Place!

“Unearned” would seem more on the mark.

This, too, is ominous.

I like historic buildings as much as the next guy. (I live in a Victorian.) But the amount Ohio developers have been getting through this credit is very large when compared to other investments the state could be made in preserving Ohio history. 4/4

For comparison, the state historical society (the Ohio History Connection) gets ~$21M per year, which is less than one-fifth of the credit. Money is tight at OHC. The library and archive is only open to researchers 12½ hours per week. And so much more could be digitized or better preserved. 3/4

The thing about Ohio’s historic preservation tax credit is that it’s *really* expensive. The state appears to be giving away more than $120M per year through this credit. That’s a lot. 2/4

It’s Goodin. (Steven and I interned at the Springfield News-Sun, where I once misspelled Bill Shkurti’s name and have regretted it ever since.) www.porterwright.com/steven-p-goo...

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

How bizarre. These seem like obvious public records that must be disclosed.

My heart goes out to President Biden, of course. This is a tough diagnosis for a very good man. But how is this supposed to have derailed me, exactly?

Let me simply register my bewilderment at the suggestion that the key task, right now, is to litigate the last Democratic (non-)primary because of what it supposedly will do to the next Democratic primary three years from now. I’m not aware of any proper evidence or political theory to support that.

My credibility is fine, bro.

The Columbus Dispatch site made me miserable for years in this respect. Managing online subscriptions would seem easier than delivering a pile of newsprint to my door, but they made it look very, very hard.

My understanding is that this worked pretty well in Cincinnati a couple of generations ago. I wonder what Jack Gilligan would think.

The sales taxes would sure be something.
