It’s summer, so it’s time for cold beers outside. But it’s also 2025 and I don’t tend to drink much alcohol anymore. These Corona Cero are the best of both worlds. An ice cold beer on the beach, but can happily drive home afterwards and not feel terrible. This is progress! Bought a few crates.

I'm watching the #tetris movie for perhaps the 6th time tonight. I still love playing the original Game Boy version on my Anbernic RG35XX - I think my wife loves it even more. But now I'm more convinced than ever that I need a Nintendo console in my life. Switch 2 incoming.

I loved this game on my master system. I do miss that squared box art and how nicely the cartridges snapped into their little holders inside the case.

I normally listen to my own music from my own NAS via #sonos using S1. This morning I’m doing some maintenance on ny NAS so resorted to streaming. I am overly happy with how this Tycho deluxe cover looks on the S1. It’s definitely a Tycho kind of morning. Chilled.

Let’s just say today was a good day. I love having the flexibility with my work that if the sun comes out, we can both down tools and hit the beach. Our corner of Cornwall is looking good this week. Going to make the most of it and work in the evening instead. #cornwall #beach #coastal

Well, this actually looks great fun. youtu.be/uLguU7WLreA...

Also, discord is basically IRC and before that chat rooms, usenet and BBS. All of these services are just repackaged versions of the same idea. Secondly, Short form video is mostly nonsense. I honestly have no idea how people consume so much of it.

I see so many articles and videos about the future of social media. Like it has some sort of essential place in human survival. It’s ok for something to fade into obscurity. It’s really not necessary. Not using TikTok does not make me a Luddite. It’s an internet service, not a prerequisite.

Last year, after the #sonos debacle, I downgraded all of my system to S1 and blocked updates at router level. After reading some positive things about S2 on Reddit, I decided to try it again. Over an hour trying, I couldn’t even get the system update to run. I think that says it all. S1 it is.

Do you have a nostalgic corner dedicated to important #PhysicalMedia in your life? We want to see it!

This evening (5-7pm BST) I'm spending two hours on The Benjamin Foundation's Gaming For Good fundraising live stream and I'll have my trusty #Amiga 600 with me. Chuck a donation in and pick a game for me to play! Donate: www.justgiving.com/page/48hour-... Stream link: www.twitch.tv/thebenjaminf...

The first day of #DLXXII looked a little like this 📹

“There's gonna be a fat f----ng steelbook, man. We're going with a company that believes in physical media still.” Hell yes! Kevin Smith is planning on doing it correctly for a 25th anniversary 4K release of DOGMA, and we're looking forward to seeing what he comes up with.

Britain's energy intensive businesses are being battered by energy prices. Our factories and data centres have 50% higher prices than French and German factories, and 3-4x higher than Norway and Sweden. But it doesn't have to be this way 👇

With all the #Nintendo Switch 2 hype going on today, I’m glad I found this cute launch day video. Much better than the usual tech bro nonsense & great to see a Japanese perspective. I do wish we had a lottery system here in the UK. Much more dignified. youtu.be/hp1OO8NHrss...

Everyone is playing their #nintendo Switch 2 or waiting in line, and I’m re-entering the absolute carnage and bloodshed that is Doom - The Dark Ages on series x. I’m on chapter 12 and it’s intense. Won’t be buying a switch 2 until I’ve finished at least doom, Indiana jones and phantom liberty.

OK. So I’m testing something new. I don't want to be attached to socials all the time, I want weeks at a time when I don't log in, but sometimes I have things to share. So I’m testing post scheduling across all of my accounts.

Finished watching #mountainhead and it left me feeling really meloncollie and a little depressed. When I started writing code on my 386 and Amiga (offline) I would never have guessed we would end up in a place of oligarchy and chaos. The world burns as morons profit. I may go ghost online

I’m watching #mountainhead and it makes the case for decentralisation even starker. Great movie parodying the valley tech bro mindset. As someone who sees these guys more like peers than others (if you have ever worked in tech you know what I mean) it’s even making me ponder total account deletion

Some evenings just call for 4+ minute guitar solo. Pink Floyd never disappoints. Also, can I just confess my love for my #sonos system. The majority of my system are Play 3s I’ve bought used. Stereo pairs all over the house. Happily running rock solid S1 and local Library. Grateful for this system.

Ok. I’m taking my socials off my phone for a while. Not going all out and staying off everything, but definitely don’t need them with me at all times. As always, if you message me; I’ll see it periodically. If you need me faster, sms/imessage/whatsapp might be quicker.

There are a few tickets left for our Smith and Sniff live show in London next week. Every ticket includes free entry to the London Concours so you can spend the afternoon looking at nice cars then wrap it up listening to two utter sleeves talking shite. www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1348128712...

It’s the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, and for the first time in over 30 years, I’m just not that interested. For decades I’ve been a massive formula one fan, but I just feel like something is missing and the sport demands way too much of my time now. I preferred the days of quail and race same day.

You will mostly find me on mastodon/bluesky/threads if you like my posts. Simply because I’m cross posting with @openvibe.social and not using any other social apps.

Ok it’s safe to say our little family business is at the sharp end of a massive DDOS attack. I know UK e-commerce is the current target, but our little button badge business really doesn’t need this. I’ve put #cloudflare in place and blocked china, HK and Singapore. Over 100k IPs in 24 hrs blocked.

Lateralus turns 24 today. What are your favorite tracks?

Back home & back out for coffee. Our trip to Bristol & Bath was great fun. I’ll try to post some pictures later today.

I don’t like doing this, but I’ve had to enable cloudflare on my server today and go nuclear on a few countries. Fully blocked china, Singapore and Hong Kong after a massive four day long ddos attack on our family business website. We only tend to have customers in Uk/EU/America and Oceania.

It’s #doom release day. This is the first of the next gen releases of doom I’ve not played on day one. Although, today I’m getting 900mbps full fibre fitted, so if I really want to, I can download the digital version in no time.

A few from Bristol. In town for @stevenwilsonhq.bsky.social
