My new goal is to write a great book about a very good band. (Thank you!)

I would watch it again but my main feeling by the end was “All right, buddy…”

If I remember, Willis does incredible things with the cattle in CaH, they’re like a giant brown wall behind the actors.

Would be a good double feature with the only other Willis western, “Comes a Horseman.”

Do you know his late 60s country turn? Or Live at the Star Club?

As everyone is saying, you’ll find good stuff in every one of his books but I feel like his consistency overwhelms how formally daring he could be, esp in the 70s.

Not only because they rhyme, I would go with Levels of the Game or his collection Pieces of the Frame. His brilliant structures on display. From there, Encounters with the Archdruid and Coming into the Country.

Absolutely. This would be cool if it was just an autograph but “Althea” opens a whole world.

One of the greats. And an amazingly insightful book about male and female behavior.

I revere André like few artists but haven’t listened to the piano EP. Between this, the flute stuff (which he actually studied), and his recent Berklee speech about remaining true to your earliest connection with music, I think he’s drastically overvaluing amateurism as an aesthetic and concept.

One banger among many on this list. I had the exact experience and it was All Blues that crushed me. Happy birthday!
